The thesis aims to substantiate whether macroeconomic factors indicators are relevant to predict both in-sample and out-of-sample assets' future performance focusing on two well-studied themes in financial economics and banking: First, the ability to predict the equity risk premium, and second, the macroeconomic determinants of non-performing loans (NPL) rates. Behavioral data are notable for presenting challenges to their statistical analysis, often due to the difficulties in measuring behavior on a quantitative scale. Instead, a range of qualitative alternative responses is recorded. These can often be understood as the outcome of a sequence of binary decisions. For example, faced by a predator, an individual may decide to flee or stay. If it stays, it may decide to freeze or display a threat and if it displays a threat, it may choose from several alternative forms of display. The development of international health from a historical point of view has undergone major advances in recent times and constitutes a substantial part of the current agenda for historians of medicine. Within this framework, and focussing on a specific case study (international responses to poliomyelitis outbreaks in the 20th century), we explore the main actions and achievements of agencies such as the WHO and other private and international scientific organizations. Furthermore, this paper seeks to identify the Spanish presence and absence in these activities, their causes and consequences.
Small agency and precarious residency in Afghan refugee families

This chapter examines agency and ways of enduring suffering in Afghan families in a small Finnish town. Three stories, where the mothers and children have lived in Finland for some years already, but the fathers have arrived during the 2015 large-scale migration, are presented and analysed. Ethnographic methods are used in enquiring how family members endure suffering when they are faced with the threat of deportation of a family member. Our results show that fathers’ precarious residency has an impact on family members’ agency. This experiment aimed to examine the effects of the utilization of monocultures of ryegrass (R), sulla (S) or both of them (RS), and the prolongation of daily grazing from 8 h (8:00-16:00) to 24 h, evaluating behaviour, selectivity, intake and milk and cheese production of ewes at pasture. The experiment involved 42 Comisana ewes averaging 146±55 days in milk, divided into 6 homogeneous groups which, since 19th April for 42 days, continuously grazed under a stocking rate of 34 ewes/ha. Ewes involving in eating activity were higher in R and for 24-h grazing, in relation to lower intake rate. RS ewes reduced eating time and increased lying activity. En este trabajo presentamos los materiales y resultados de un experimento economico realizado en una clase de Microeconomia Intermedia. Hemos realizado una serie de modificaciones y recomendaciones sobre el experimento de seleccion adversa de Bergstrom y Miller 2000 (el analisis del mercado de coches usados, capitulo 12) que consideramos permiten una mejor implementacion del mismo. La realizacion de este experimento fomenta el aprendizaje activo y consigue que los estudiantes comprendan mejor la naturaleza del problema de asimetria de la informacion.
Machine learning for mortality analysis in patients with COVID-19

This paper analyzes a sample of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the region of Madrid (Spain). Survival analysis, logistic regression, and machine learning techniques (both supervised and unsupervised) are applied to carry out the analysis where the endpoint variable is the reason for hospital discharge (home or deceased). The different methods applied show the importance of variables such as age, O2 saturation at Emergency Rooms (ER), and whether the patient comes from a nursing home. Maģistra darbs ir veltīts krāpniecisko darījumu konstatēšanas īpatnību noskaidrošanai nodokļu tiesībās. Maģistra darbā analizēta jēdziena „krāpniecisks darījums” izpratne krimināltiesībās un administratīvajās tiesībās, kā arī krāpnieciska darījuma konstatēšanas īpatnības minētajās tiesību nozarēs. Darbs sastāv no diviem izpētes blokiem, proti, krāpnieciska darījuma konstatēšanas īpatnību analīzes krimināltiesībās un šāda darījuma konstatēšanas īpatnību analīzes administratīvajās tiesībās. Pētījuma rezultātā darba autore konstatēja, ka ir vērojamas būtiskas atšķirības krāpniecisko darījumu konstatēšanā administratīvajās tiesībās un krimināltiesībās.
