Endophytes are symptomless fungal and/or bacterial microorganisms found in almost all living plant species. The symbiotic association with their host plants by colonizing the internal tissues has endowed them as a valuable tool to suppress diseases, stimulate growth, and promote stress resistance. Microscratch testing method for systematic evaluation of the adhesion of atomic layer deposited thin films on silicon

The scratch test method is widely used for adhesion evaluation of thin films and coatings. Usual critical load criteria designed for scratch testing of coatings were not applicable to thin atomic layer deposition (ALD) films on silicon wafers. Thus, the bases for critical load evaluation were established and the critical loads suitable for ALD coating adhesion evaluation on silicon wafers were determined in this paper as LCSi1, LCSi2, LCALD1, and LCALD2, representing the failure points of the silicon substrate and the coating delamination points of the ALD coating. Dark matter and baryogenesis in Higgs portal models

This work focuses on two of the main issues in current understanding of particle physics described by the Standard Model. The Standard Model, despite of its success, is not complete. Existence of dark matter has been clearly verified, but its nature is unknown. Also, the baryon asymmetry in the Universe hints that the Standard Model has to be extended. In this thesis we study Higgs portal models which both contain dark matter candidates, and can provide for a successful production of the baryon asymmetry.
Las creencias epistemológicas en los estudiantes universitarios con los nuevos planes de estudios

Los cambios surgidos a partir del proceso de Bolonia, centrados en una nueva metodología que implica un alumno más activo, es esperable que influyan sobre las creencias epistemológicas. Para comprobar esto, comparamos dos grupos de una misma asignatura que cursaban licenciatura (441) y grado (336) y utilizamos el Cuestionario de creencias epistemológicas (EBS) de Wood y Kardash (2002: 249). Los resultados muestran que las creencias en ambos sistemas tienden a ser similares e ingenuas o simples, con puntuaciones ligeramente superiores en el grupo de licenciatura, contrario a lo esperado. Fracture and fatigue of titanium narrow dental implants: New trends in order to improve the mechanical response

Sixty-four fractured commercially pure titanium (cp-Ti) narrow dental implants (NDIs) with similar macrogeometry and connection designs were studied after different implantation times in humans in order to determine their reliability and to evaluate the causes of the fracture. These NDIs were compared with other similar implants, made with alloyed titanium with 15% Zr and with 12% strained titanium. Original implants were tested under static and fatigue conditions, simulating the tri-axial loads in the mouth by means of a Bionix hydraulic test machine. Methylene bridged 2,2′-dipyridylamine (dpa) derivatives and their metal complexes possess outstanding properties due to their inherent structural flexibility. Synthesis of such complexes typically involves derivatization of dpa followed by coordination on metals, and may not always be very efficient. In this work, an alternative synthetic approach, involving the derivatization step after – rather than prior to – coordination of dpa on metal center, is proposed and applied to synthesis of a number of platinum(II) complexes with substituted benzyldi(2-pyridyl)amines. Część współczesnych krymskich Polaków to potomkowie polskich uchodźców, którzy przybyli na półwysep w pierwszej połowie XX wieku. Artykuł prezentuje analizę znajdujących się w krymskich archiwach informacji dotyczących tej tematyki. Omawia historię działalności społeczno-kulturalnej polskiej społeczności w tym okresie. Opublikowane materiały mogą nie tylko zainteresować badaczy, lecz także być pomocne w odnawianiu zerwanych więzi rodzinnych, a również w rozwiązywaniu problemów napływających do Polski uchodźców, których liczba stale rośnie.
