Effect of Sex, Body Mass Index and Physical Activity Level on Peak Oxygen Uptake Among 14–19 Years Old Adolescents

The aim was to describe longitudinal trends in peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak) among 14- to 19-year-old adolescents in Norway, and to examine effects of sex, body mass index (BMI), and physical activity (PA) level on VO2peak during adolescence. Of 124 invited students from two lower secondary schools in Norway, 116 eighth-grade students (61 boys and 55 girls; 14 years old at baseline) volunteered to participate. Liga Niepodległości Polski utworzona w 1944 r. stała się polityczną reprezentacją piłsudczyków na emigracji. Przywódcą ruchu został znany dyplomata Juliusz Łukasiewicz. W 1950 r. na stanowisku prezesa zastąpił go Michał Grażyński, były wieloletni wojewoda śląski. Siedzibą władz naczelnych LNP był Londyn, gdzie piłsudczycy wydawali powielany biuletyn „Listy z Londynu”, a następnie czasopismo „Za Wolność i Niepodległość”. Medical dictionaries represent, among the other things, an important pedagogic genre (Swales 1995, Bhatia, 1997, Hyland 2000) within academic education, since they are the means through which professional writers talk about their disciplines and address to scholars. The preface sections are of the utmost importance since, among several functions, they (should) attract and orient the readers (Azar, 2012). This paper describes the macro structure of preface sections in fourteen English dictionaries related to the field of medicine and investigates on the rhetorical and discursive devices employed in these texts to establish the importance of the author's work.
