INTELLIGENT ROBOTIC REHABILITATION THROUGH A HUMAN-ROBOT INTERACTION : A starting point for a robotic infrastructure which can be an aid for physioth…
2021
Master's thesis in Mechatronics (MAS500) This thesis contains a starting point for a robotic infrastructure which can be an aid for physiotherapists by issuing and adjusting assistive or resistive exercises. With added equipment for specialized operations, the Halodi EVEr3 Robot could be utilized as a basis for this kind of infrastructure. When a physiotherapist is performing a lower extremity rehabilitative movement on a patient, theEVEr3 robot could record this behaviour and mimic it for a desired number of repetitions. The design of a prototype is thought to be done safely as a collaboration with healthcare professionals.
International Vocational Education and Training Research: An Introduction to the Special Issue
2021
The seven articles in this special issue represent a wide range of international comparative and review studies by international research teams from China, Germany, India, Russia, Switzerland and Mexico. The presented projects are part of the national program "Research on the Internationalisation of Vocational Education and Training", funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). An adapted version of Urie Bronfenbrenners ecological systems theory forms the conceptual framework of the special issue. The four system levels (micro, meso, exo and macro) are addressed by one article each. The article on the microsystem level focuses on the intended and implemented c…
Adequate vitamin B12 and folate status of Norwegian vegans and vegetarians
2022
AbstractPlant-based diets may increase the risk of vitamin B12 deficiency due to limited intake of animal-source foods, while dietary folate increases when adhering to plant-based diets. In this cross-sectional study, we evaluated the B12 and folate status of Norwegian vegans and vegetarians using dietary B12 intake, B12 and folic acid supplement use, and biomarkers (serum B12 (B12), plasma total homocysteine (tHcy), plasma methylmalonic acid (MMA) and serum folate). Vegans (n 115) and vegetarians (n 90) completed a 24-h dietary recall and a FFQ and provided a non-fasting blood sample. cB12, a combined indicator for evaluation of B12 status, was calculated. B12 status was adequate in both v…
Dietary Habits and Self-Reported Health Measures Among Norwegian Adults Adhering to Plant-Based Diets
2022
BackgroundAs plant-based diets is increasing, we aimed to investigate dietary habits, dietary motivation and self-reported health of Norwegian adults who adhere to different types of plant-based diets.MethodsIn 2020, 808 subjects (530 women and 278 men) participated in an online survey, including vegans (8%), lacto-ovo vegetarians (16%), pescatarians (23%), and flexitarians (53%).ResultsHalf of the participants reported to consume fruits daily, three quarters consumed vegetables daily, and one quarter consumed whole grain products daily. Half of the participants reported weekly consumption of sweets and salted snacks, and 10% reported daily consumption of sugary drinks. Daily consumption of…

A simultaneous liquefaction, saccharification and fermentation (SLSF) process at very high gravity of cassava flour for potable ethanol production was developed at lab (1 L) and pilot scale (15 L and 1000 L). Cassava flour (CF) was mixed with tap water to obtain a concentration of 270 g/L dry matter. Sequentially, the mixture of a native starch hydrolyzing enzyme containing a mixture of alpha–amylase and gluco-amylase (Stargen 002 at 2565 GAU/kg CF), gluco-amylase (Amigase Mega L at 0.105% w/w), active dry yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Red Ethanol at 3,5 × 10^7 cells/ml), KH2PO4 (9,9 mM) and urea (16.0 mM) was added into cassava slurry. The SLSF-VHG process including three steps of liquef…
Possible coumarin-like mechanism of action for cephalosporins.
1984
In three patients treated with cephalosporins (one patient with latamoxef, two patients with cefazedone) vitamin K1 was injected to investigate whether this was followed by an increase in vitamin K1 2,3-epoxide plasma concentrations as compared to controls. Such a rise in K1-epoxide concentrations in the plasma can be demonstrated following treatment with coumarins. This reflects an inhibition of the vitamin K1-epoxide reductase in the liver. Coumarins are thought to induce hypoprothrombinaemia by such a mechanism. In all three patients we found a considerable increase in the vitamin K1-epoxide plasma concentrations following injection of 10 mg vitamin K1, whereas in normal subjects only tr…
Digitalisation of municipal healthcare collaboration with volunteers: a case study applying normalization process theory
2021
Abstract Background Increasing use of volunteers in healthcare requires structured collaboration between healthcare services and volunteers. The aim of this research was to explore critical issues and strategies in the implementation process of a digital solution for collaboration with and coordination of volunteers in municipal healthcare services. Methods Qualitative data collection was used to study implementation of a digital system for collaboration with volunteers in three Norwegian municipalities. Three rounds of interviews were conducted with healthcare employees from a volunteer centre and from municipality healthcare units in three municipalities: before implementation, and 6 and …
Torrefied versus conventional pellet production – A comparative study on energy and emission balance based on pilot-plant data and EU sustainability …
2015
Abstract Torrefaction is an emerging technology which enables greater co-firing rates of biomass with coal. To date however there has been a lack of real production data from pilot-scale torrefaction plants. Without such data any environmental benefits of torrefied pellet production are difficult to quantify. In this study data on consumable inputs from a semi-industrial torrefaction plant and the physical properties of produced pellets are used to analyse energy input and air emissions of torrefied pellet production and product transport. EU sustainability criteria are used to compare CO2-equivalent emissions from torrefied and conventional pellet production starting from harvesting of log…
