Questions and controversies in the study of time-varying functional connectivity in resting fMRI.
2020
The brain is a complex, multiscale dynamical system composed of many interacting regions. Knowledge of the spatiotemporal organization of these interactions is critical for establishing a solid understanding of the brain’s functional architecture and the relationship between neural dynamics and cognition in health and disease. The possibility of studying these dynamics through careful analysis of neuroimaging data has catalyzed substantial interest in methods that estimate time-resolved fluctuations in functional connectivity (often referred to as “dynamic” or time-varying functional connectivity; TVFC). At the same time, debates have emerged regarding the application of TVFC analyses to re…
Safety of Dietary Guanidinoacetic Acid: A Villain of a Good Guy?
2021
Guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) is a natural amino acid derivative that is well-recognized for its central role in the biosynthesis of creatine, an essential compound involved in cellular energy metabolism. GAA (also known as glycocyamine or betacyamine) has been investigated as an energy-boosting dietary supplement in humans for more than 70 years. GAA is suggested to effectively increase low levels of tissue creatine and improve clinical features of cardiometabolic and neurological diseases, with GAA often outcompeting traditional bioenergetics agents in maintaining ATP status during stress. This perhaps happens due to a favorable delivery of GAA through specific membrane transporters (such as…
Nursing Students’ Learning about Person-centred Dementia Care in a Nursing Home : A Qualitative Study
2022
It is unclear to what extent nursing students are able to apply person-centred care in practice, despite a mixture of educational support approaches. The aim of this study was to explore nursing students’ experiences of learning about person-centred dementia care after they participated in an adopted education programme in a nursing home. The education programme presented the main concepts of person-centred care. A qualitative explorative design was chosen where 32 bachelor-level nursing students participated in seven focus groups. The study is reported according to the COREQ checklist. Qualitative thematic content analysis revealed two main themes: care culture in the nursing home as joyf…

Effects of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Brain Networks Related to Creative Thinking
2020
AbstractHuman creative thinking is unique and capable of generating novel and valuable ideas. Recent research has clarified the contribution of different brain networks (default mode network, DN; executive control network; salience network) to creative thinking. However, the effects of brain stimulation on brain networks during creative thinking and on creative performance have not been clarified. The present study was designed to examine the changes in functional connectivity (FC) and effective connectivity (EC) of the large-scale brain network, and the ensuing changes in creative performance, induced by transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). Fourteen healthy male students underwe…
Usos i abusos de la creativitat. Sociologia dels processos creatius, transicions a l'entorn digital i polítiques creatives
2016

Social Innovation Toward a Meaningful Everyday Life for Nursing Home Residents: An Ethnographic Study
2021
Background: The literature shows that innovation, which includes culture change, may be important to create a meaningful everyday life for nursing home residents. However, there is a gap in how social innovation practices may contribute to this. The theoretical discourse for the study is person-centered care.Aim: The main aim was to explore phenomena within social innovation that can contribute to improving nursing home residents’ everyday lives.Design and Method: This study uses an ethnographic design with observations and interviews in two nursing homes in Southern Norway.Findings: The main theme was that social innovation within working practices in nursing homes includes phenomena that …

The castle's Hermitage of Yecla (Region of Murcia) constituted during the 13th to 16th centuries the first parish of the population, hosting a triptych-shaped altarpiece presided over by a tempera painting on wood of Our Lady of Humility or "Virgo Lactans", dated around 1370 and attributed to the painter Barnaba da Modena, which was the titular image of the mentioned temple under the title of Our Lady of the Incarnation, until at the end of the 18th century it changed ownership for the Conception of Our Lady. The table at averages of the eight hundred was placed in an a loft, appropriating it at the beginning of the 20th century by the retired military Pascual Spuche y Lacy, who sold it aro…
