Cultural Values’ Influences on Users’ Preferences for Gamification Techniques

2019

Gamification techniques such as badges, levels, roles, are widely adopted in information systems (IS). Though researchers have noted that cultural values may influence users' usage of IS, there is a lack of research regarding the relationship of cultural values and gamification techniques. Our study aims to contribute to this area. We propose that users' cultural values may influence how they are motivated and further influence their preferences toward specific gamification techniques. In this research in progress, we review cultural values, examine the currently adopted gamification techniques, and then propose how cultural values influence users' preferences toward specific gamification t…

Pericentriskā heterohromatīna loma genoma telpiskajā organizācijā un regulācijā krūts vēža diferencēšanās komitācijā

2020

Predictors of long-term outcomes in patients undergoing periodontal maintenance

2017

Abstract Aim This retrospective study aimed to characterize the baseline status of patients following periodontal maintenance, analysing the association between the long‐term outcome of these patients, smoking, bruxism, and the main clinical and radiographic variables. Material and methods A sample of 174 patients with moderate to severe periodontitis was refined into homogeneous subsamples according to smoking and bruxism and the rate of tooth loss due to periodontal disease (TLPD): 0, 1–2, and >2 teeth. The association and the distribution (χ² test) of the variables within the subsamples were analysed. Results Smoking and bruxism were significantly associated with higher TLPD rates. Verti…

Permutations of zero-sumsets in a finite vector space

2020

Abstract In this paper, we consider a finite-dimensional vector space 𝒫 {{\mathcal{P}}} over the Galois field GF ⁡ ( p ) {\operatorname{GF}(p)} , with p being an odd prime, and the family ℬ k x {{\mathcal{B}}_{k}^{x}} of all k-sets of elements of 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} summing up to a given element x. The main result of the paper is the characterization, for x = 0 {x=0} , of the permutations of 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} inducing permutations of ℬ k 0 {{\mathcal{B}}_{k}^{0}} as the invertible linear mappings of the vector space 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} if p does not divide k, and as the invertible affinities of the affine space 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} if p divides k. The same question is answered also in the case where …

2004

The aim of our inquiry was to value, through a longitudinal implant with a follow up after ten years if a deficit like asthma could take part in a personality adaptations as a far as to develop a personality disorder. there are two phases of the research. During the first phase were administer to a goup of 58 asthmatic persons and to an equivalent control group: Questionario Scala d'ansia per l'età evolutiva, the childrens depressions scale, the self perception profile for children, the questionnaire of fear and phobia, the family relations test. In the second phase of our inquiry were adiminstered to a group of 39 subject of the original cohort the personality questionary of structured int…

Music preferences based on audio features, and its relation to personality

2009

Recent studies have summarized reported music preferences by genre into four broadly defined categories, which relate to various personality characteristics. Other research has indicated that genre classification is ambiguous and inconsistent. This ambiguity suggests that research relating personality to music preferences based on genre could benefit from a more objective definition of music. This problem is addressed by investigating how music preferences linked to objective audio features relate to personality. Participants (N = 354; 165 males) completed a personality measure and rated their preference to 120 music clips from various music (sub-)genres (e.g., classical, rock). Principle C…

Emotion, Personality, Use of Music In Everyday Life and Musical Preferences

2013

The use of music in everyday life (UofM) is an area with growing interest. Scales for the measurement can be criticized despite their reliability and validity. Additionally, the association of UofM with personality theories has not been carried out thoroughly. Within an ongoing project, the IAAM (Inventory for the measurement of Activation and Arousal modulation by Music) has been constructed. Within the existing study, the reliability and validity of the IAAM-scales are to be examined. The assignment of the IAAM-scales to the biological based BIS-BAS-model (Gray & McNaughton, 2000) should be proven against the explanation of the IAAM-scales by the personality model of Eysenck (1967). Furth…
