Disentangling local agronomic practices from agricultural landscape effects on pest biological control

2019

International audience; The biological control of crop pests is a valuable service provided by various beneficial organisms that are naturally present in agricultural landscapes. Semi-natural habitats has long been recognized as essential to preserve beneficial insects, but proof of their efficiency to enhance biological control of pests remains non conclusive. Here, we examined the variability of landscape effect on biological pest control and the way local agronomic practices may modulate it. Biological pest control was monitored in 80 commercial fields (arable crops and orchards) during three consecutive years in four contrasting French agricultural landscapes distributed along a double …

“A Modern Slave Song:” Reggae Music and the Memory of Slavery

2019

International audience; From early ska tunes to modern-day dancehall sounds, Jamaican popular music has been a privileged site for the re/creation and transmission of a communal memory of slavery, within Jamaican society itself but also in the broader context of the African and Afro-Caribbean diasporas. The lyrics of reggae songs constitute a vast textual repertoire where a predominantly oral discourse on slavery is produced and circulated, mostly outside institutional circles. In such texts, slavery serves as a memorial matrix which fosters a sense of identity, community and resistance for Afro-Caribbean people around the world. This chapter examines a corpus of 250 song lyrics dedicated t…

Topology of beginning : Heidegger’s interpretation of Anaximander

2022

In this thesis, the main work is to initiate a series of discussions based on Heidegger’s interpretation of Anaximander. Our work is articulated around two main axes: first, we situate his interpretation of Anaximander in the progression of Heideggerian thought, and by comparing his interpretations of Anaximander at three different periods, we attempt to clarify the thread of Heidegger’s interpretation of Anaximander. In this axis devoted to his specific and detailed interpretation of Anaximander, we try to place the interpretation of Anaximander in the theoretical framework of the “topology of presence” in order to examine the evolution and development of Heidegger’s thought. Secondly, we …

2021

This paper examins the admissibility of so-called “leggi-provvedimento”, taking the cue from the effect of the national legislative provision, which recognizes eight million euro for biennium 2017-2018 to the Roman Teatro Eliseo, and which was recently submitted to the Italian Constitutional Court.
