It is beyond question that linguistics and foreign language teaching should go hand in hand, but unfortunately, this is not always the case. Fernand de Montessus de Ballore, à la naissance de la sismologie moderne

Fernand de Montessus de Ballore (1851-1923) est considéré comme un des précurseurs de la sismologie moderne. On lui doit une importante production scientifique dans ce domaine : il a notamment établi, par des relevés rigoureux et nombreux, que les tremblements de terre étaient en relation avec la géologie et non avec les phases de la lune ou les volcans souterrains comme on le supposait au début du XXe siècle. Officier de l'armée française, alors en garnison à Nîmes, il écrit en 1886 au scientifique genevois Louis Soret (1827-1890), qui fait partie de la commission suisse chargée d'étudier les séismes dans ce pays. C'est l'analyse de cette lettre à Soret qui fait l'objet de notre article.

A cytochemical study on the effects of energy deprivation on autophagocytosis in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells

The effect of energy deprivation on autophagocytosis in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells was studied using cytochemical techniques. Autophagocytosis was induced with vinblastine incubation (0.1 mM) and the cellular ATP-level was lowered with 2-deoxy-D-glucose (0.35 mM). Acid phosphatase was used as a marker for lysosomal enzymes and imidazole-buffered osmium tetroxide impregnation in order to study the effects of energy deprivation on the maturation of autophagic vacuole (AV) membranes. Faculty Perception of Inclusion in the University: Concept, Policies and Educational Practices

European universities must face the challenge of diversity and design inclusive practices to address it as part of their social responsibility. However, not all universities are doing the same in terms of diversity practices, so it is important to gather the perceptions of the protagonists. To this end, we have analysed university faculty’s perceptions using a mixed model with a concurrent methodological strategy, including an ad hoc questionnaire validated with 880 educators, as well as 17 semi‐structured interviews. Confrontando le poesie dedicate al massacro di Babij Jar (lo sterminio metodico di tutta la popolazione ebraica rimasta a Kiev dopo la conquista nazista) da Il’ja Erenburg ed Evgenij Evtušenko dovremmo con ogni probabilità considerare superiore quella del primo.
