This chapter ties together discussions of citizenship and social work practice in the context of growing populist and neoliberal political trends in Finland. These political trends are manifested in populist right-wing nationalist movements on the one hand, and in the neoliberal dismantling of the welfare state on the other. Both political trends – right-wing nationalist populism and neoliberalism – tend to separate people into two groups: those who are ‘deserving’ and those who are ‘undeserving’. Są istotnym dopełnieniem prezentowanej koncepcji triady determinant bezpieczeństwa. Obejmują następujące czynniki: środowisko rodzinne, środowisko zawodowe (pracy), postawy społeczne wobec służb społecznych, status społeczny i prestiż zawodowy, kulturę prawną oraz kulturę bezpieczeństwa. Katalog ten jest otwarty i elastyczny. Jego pojemność może zwiększać się w toku dyskursu prowadzonego wokół zagadnień bezpieczeństwa pracowników służb społecznych.

The paradox of endogenous poverty line in the poverty indices

Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää, millaisia palvelukokonaisuuksia esiopetusikäisten opetuksen ja hoidon järjestelyt Suomessa muodostavat sekä tarkastella niitä lasten hyvinvoinnin sekä keskinäisen yhdenvertaisuuden näkökulmista. Hyvinvoinnin kuvaajina käytetään vuorovaikutukseen vaikuttavia tekijöitä sekä opetuksen ja hoidon pysyvyyttä. Tutkimukseen haastateltiin puhelimitse varhaiskasvatuksen esimiehiä kymmenessä eri kunnassa. Tulokset osoittavat, että kunnissa on käytössä suuri määrä erilaisia esiopetusikäisten opetuksen ja hoidon palvelukokonaisuuksia. Myndighetene formulerte målet om et kjønnsblandet arbeidsliv for ti år siden. Graden av måloppnåelse for enkelte yrkesgrupper er noe belyst, men det finnes lite kjønnsspesifikk forskning innen vernepleieryrket. Formålet med denne studien har vært å undersøke og beskrive hva som kjennetegner mannlige vernepleiere og deres yrkesvalg. I tillegg har vi undersøkt hvilke faktorer hos menn som har sammenheng med å ta et bevisst valg om å bli vernepleier. Resultatene er basert på data fra SSB og en spørreundersøkelse blant mannlige vernepleiere (n=487). Tall fra SSB tyder på at aldersfordelingen blant mannlige vernepleiere kan være i endring. In the debates on deliberative democracy it’s a common idea that the defenders of this theory argue for the direct participation of the citizens in the political issues and for the transformation of our current representative devices. However, in this work I argue that this conception is misguided, and that it’s the minority who defends the direct participation. The majority of the writers acknowledges the necessity of a representative device, although based on different premises to the liberal system.
