Narratives in L2 Learner Identity Development

This article focuses on second or foreign language (L2) learner identity and its development as discursively constructed, and we will summarize four studies conducted on this topic. The studies were conducted in the context of L2 teacher education in Finland, and the participants were student teachers (pre-service teachers) or recently qualified teachers of English or other L2s. As data we made use of narratives in different modes (oral, written, visual). The summarizing of the studies will be followed by a joint critical discussion of the theoretical and methodological lessons learned and possible applications. peerReviewed

Tässä tutkimuksessa keskitytään erilaisen musiikkikirjallisuuden sisältämään Sibelius-kuvaan. Tutkimus pyrkii kartoittamaan säveltäjä Jean Sibeliuksen henkilön erilaisia puolia häntä koskevassa kirjoittelussa ja tarkastelee, minkälaisia puolia Sibeliuksen säveltäjäkuvasta tulee esille. Tutkimus suoritettiin analysoimalla ja pohtimalla tekstien sisältöä ja asettamalla tekstejä rinnakkain vertailuun yhtenevien seikkojen kannalta, jotta voisi tarkastella, kuinka erilaiset näkökulmat poikkeavat toisistaan. Even though natural history museums are seen by some as rather gloomy places, they are actually repositories of countless treasures and magnificent sources of knowledge. The Museum of Natural History of the University of Wroclaw is no exception. A process to curate all Museum’s Lepidoptera that started in 2012 allowed us to find among its several collections, the one that originally belonged to the renowned entomologist and insect dealer Friedrich Wilhelm Niepelt. Tietokoneavusteinen algoritminen säveltäminen on tuore tutkimuskenttä, joka on tuottanut lupaavia tuloksia. Kyse on tietokoneohjelmista, jotka erilaisin menetelmin kykenevät säveltämään musiikkia. Tällaisten ohjelmien tuotosten arviointi on tärkeää, koska se edesauttaa tutkimuskenttään liittyvien ongelmien ratkaisua. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli suunnitella ja toteuttaa koe, jolla erään säveltävän ohjelman tuotosten tasoa voi arvioida.
