Fluency is a commonly used descriptor of second language (L2) speaking skills. Unplanned and too frequent pauses, hesitations, and repetitions disrupt the flow of speech and can cause temporal irregularities at all levels of speech hierarchy, from syllable rate to phrasing. However, most studies that attempt to quantify fluency disregard pause locations. The current study investigates, whether and which pause locations affect the perceived fluency and proficiency in L2 Finnish. This chapter explores how experientially based pedagogical activities that involve participation in real life service encounters provide occasions for developing L2 interactional competence. The data comprises novice L2 students’ self-recorded interactions in service settings and videorecordings of classroom planning activities and de-briefing discussions, where the students reflect on their experiences. The analysis traces what kinds of occasions for learning arise as the students move between the classroom and the real-world service settings. The process of envisioning the future is central to teachers’ identity construction, but different environments create distinct sociocultural conditions for the process. This qualitative study drawing on visual-textual methods compares Finnish and Brazilian student teachers’ desired and feared professional futures. Two different perspectives on future identities were detected: a desire for status and a desire for meaningfulness. The results revealed the radically different social status of teaching in the two countries and the role this played in the envisioned identities. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää kuudesluokkalaisten käsityksiä ja kokemuksia musiikin tunnevaikutuksista, sekä heidän musiikillisia työtapojaan ja ratkaisujaan tunteiden välittämisessä. Tutkimuksessa haluttiin valaista musiikin tunnevaikutusten kenttää kuudesluokkalaisten elämismaailmassa, ja kiinnittää huomiota musiikkikasvatuksen mahdollisuuksiin, sekä tunnetaitojen hallinnan tärkeyteen hyvinvoinnin kannalta. Viherala on merkittävä ja kasvava toimiala. Ilmastonmuutos ja lajien monimuotoisuuden suojelu lisäävät entisestään viheralan painoarvoa. Viheralan kehittäminen edellyttää monipuolista tieteellistä tutkimusta ja kykyä soveltaa uutta tietoa luovasti.
