Artificial neural networks for predicting dorsal pressures on the foot surface while walking

In this work, artificial neural networks (ANNs) are proposed to predict the dorsal pressure over the foot surface exerted by the shoe upper while walking. A model that is based on the multilayer perceptron (MLP) is used since it can provide a single equation to model the exerted pressure for all the materials used as shoe uppers. Five different models are produced, one model for each one of the four subjects under study and an overall model for the four subjects. The inputs to the neural model include the characteristics of the material and the positions during a whole step of 14 pressure sensors placed on the foot surface. International audience; A raíz del redescubrimiento en la BNE del manuscrito MSS/74 —una copiosa antología de cartas y opúsculos místicos del siglo xvi—, se pudieron identificar dos de los tres «alfabetos» anónimos al amor de Dios que cierran dicho compendio: se trata en realidad de dos poemas alfabéticos de Francisco de Osuna. Constituyendo un ejemplo inédito de versiones manuscritas de los poemas del franciscano andaluz, estos alfabetos presentan variantes significativas respecto de las versiones impresas procedentes del Segundo y del Cuarto Abecedario espiritual. Esta investigación analiza las imágenes relacionadas con las actividades físicas que aparecen en los libros de texto de educación física (EF), concretamente en el tercer ciclo de la etapa de educación primaria (EP) y su correspondencia con los bloques de contenido de dicho currículo. La muestra está formada por 821 imágenes publicadas en cuatro editoriales españolas, a partir de la LOE. Nemastoma bidentatum (Arachnida: Opiliones: Nemastomatidae): first records for Germany and the Czech Republic. N. bidentatum Roewer, 1914 was found at two places in Germany: first on the island "Harriersand" in the Weser river (Lower Saxony), second on the banks of the river Elbe in the Elbsandsteingebirge (Saxony). Adjacent to the latter locality an occurrence in the Czech Republic could be located close to the German/Czech border in the floodplain of the river Elbe as well. These records are the first for Germany and the Czech Republic. They enlarge the distribution area of N. bidentatum remarkably in both a northern and a western direction. Numerical analysis becomes a powerful resource in the study of partial differential equations (PDEs), allowing to illustrate existing theorems and find conjectures. By using sophisticated methods, questions which seem inaccessible before, like rapid oscillations or blow-up of solutions can be addressed in an approached way. Rapid oscillations in solutions are observed in dispersive PDEs without dissipation where solutions of the corresponding PDEs without dispersion present shocks.
