Käsittelen tutkimuksessani maahanmuuttajataustaisten sairaanhoitajien kielellisiä keinoja osoittaa empatiaa. Sairaanhoitajien suomen kielen taidon tutkiminen on ajankohtaista, sillä ulkomailta lähtöisin olevien sairaanhoitajien määrä Suomen terveydenhuollon henkilöstössä on jatkuvassa kasvussa. Empatian osoittaminen on yksi sairaanhoitajien keskeisistä vuorovaikutustaidoista asiakas-hoitajasuhteessa, joten on tärkeää tutkia, millaisia kielellisiä keinoja suomea toisena kielenään puhuvilla sairaanhoitajilla on empatian osoittamiseen. Any model aiming to explain the enjoyment of negative emotions in the context of the arts should consider how works of art are able to induce emotional responses in the first place. First-hand experiences in foreign culture have been suggested as a powerful way to enhance intercultural empathy, whereas empathy itself has been addressed as a path to mutual understanding and peace among cultures.
