Visual understanding of divergence and curl: Visual cues promote better learning

Prior research has shown that students struggle to indicate whether vector field plots have zero or non-zero curl or divergence. In an instruction-based eye-tracking study, we investigated whether visual cues (VC) provided in the vector field plot can foster students’ understanding of these concepts. The VC were only present during instruction and highlighted conceptual information about vector decomposition and partial derivatives. Thirty-two physics majors were assigned to two groups, one was instructed with VC about the problemsolving strategy, and one without. Minkälainen on suomalaisten nuorten visuaalinen lukutaito, kun katseltavana on kuvataidetta? Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan nuorten tapoja puhua taidekokemuksestaan taidekuvien katselutilanteissa tehdyn kyselyn sekä haastattelujen avulla. Tutkimuksessa pohditaan mm. nuorten käsitystä aidosta suomalaisesta maisemasta ja tarkastellaan, minkä tyyppinen taide voi vedota erilaisiin yleisöihin. Tavoitteena ei ole etsiä oikeita tai vääriä taiteen vastaanottotapoja, vaan piirtää alustavaa kuvaa taidekokemusten sanallistamisestasuomalaisessa kulttuurissa. Kuopiossa toimi vuosina 1980-1986 uusekspressionistinen kuvataiteilijaryhmittymä, jolle annettiin mediassa nimitys Kuopion koulu. Väljän ryhmän ydinhenkilöitä olivat Markku Kolehmainen (s. 1951), Pentti Meklin (s. 1952), Pauno Pohjolainen (s. 1949) ja Teemu Saukkonen (s. 1954). Artikkelissani tutkin ja erittelen tapoja, joilla kriitikot ja muut journalistit puhuivat ilmiöstä ajan lehtiartikkeleissa. Lisäksi tutkin yleisönosastokeskustelua, jota käytiin Kuopion kuvataiteilijat ry Ars Liberan ja Kuopion kaupungin julkishallinnon välillä sekä Ars Liberan vanhemman ja nuoremman taiteilijasukupolven välillä. El presente proyecto tiene como principal objetivo analizar la influencia de la maduración, de las tareas duales y de la restricción de información sensorial en el control postural de los adolescentes. Para ello se han diseñado tres estudios diferentes con una muestra compuesta por adolescentes de entre 13 a 18 años. En el estudio 1 se pretende analizar las diferencias en la estabilidad postural unipodal en función del sexo y la edad de los adolescentes de 13 a 18 años. Los resultados obtenidos muestran unos valores más elevados en las variables área de la elipse, velocidad media antero-posterior y medio-lateral en los chicos que en las chicas.
