Epichristoffel Words and Minimization of Moore Automata
2014
This paper is focused on the connection between the combinatorics of words and minimization of automata. The three main ingredients are the epichristoffel words, Moore automata and a variant of Hopcroft’s algorithm for their minimization. Epichristoffel words defined in [14] generalize some properties of circular sturmian words. Here we prove a factorization property and the existence of the reduction tree, that uniquely identifies the structure of the word. Furthermore, in the paper we investigate the problem of the minimization of Moore automata by defining a variant of Hopcroft’s minimization algorithm. The use of this variant makes simpler the computation of the running time and consequ…

The years after Italian unification (1861) were marked by five factors which determined development of opera. 1) The reaction of young writers and composers, close to «Scapigliatura», against the works of Giuseppe Verdi, who was considered to be the father of old Risorgimento opera with "Nabucco" and "I Lombardi alla prima crociata". 2) The search for the renewal of the drama against the formulas (opera by numbers) from the 1870s onwards under the influence of Wagner’s Musikdrama, thanks to Arrigo Boito and other composers from Milan to Bologna. 3) However, when Ivan Zajc was composing his trilogy, Italian opera was not influenced by patriotic or social features, which was otherwise the cas…

La poesia epico-storica mediolatina (secc. VI-X). Caratteri generali, consistenza del “corpus” e stato della ricerca
2011
The work is concerned with examination of the principal Middle Latin epic-historical poems written between the 6th and 10th centuries, from Corippo to Rosvita of Gandersheim. It is divided into three sections, the first of which is devoted to Corippo (Iohannis and In laudem Iustini Augusti Minoris), which represents the archetypical model of Middle Latin epic-historical poetry; the second then concerns the production of the Carolingian age, through analysis and presentation of four poems (Aachener Karlsepos or Karolus et Leo, De gestis Hludowici Imperatoris by Ermoldo Nigello, De bellis Parisiacae urbis by Abbo of Saint-Germain and Annales de gestis Karoli Magni by the so-called “Saxo Poet”…
