Background: Rhinocerebral mucormycosis (ROCM) is an opportunistic fungal infection originating from the paranasal sinuses with extension to the brain. A delayed diagnosis can rapidly result in a poor prognosis. ROCM commonly affects patients with diabetes or immunocompromised states with a variable progression. Case Description: We report the case of a 59-year old patient with an untreated diabetes who developed a ROCM with rapidly progressive neurological symptoms. Exercise and supplementation with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) are used to reduce body weight and to improve health. Applied together, they may exert a synergistic effect. However, the effects of exercise and CLA supplementation on liver metabolism are poorly understood. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of exercise and CLA supplementation on fatty acids (FA) composition in mouse liver. We analyzed 44 of known FAs of this organ by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. International audience; Among 143 patients of the VIRSTA cohort study with Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia and an arthroplasty implanted for more than a year, S. aureus periprosthetic joint infection was observed in 19%. Signs of infection (pain and swelling) were always present, in median 1 day (range, 0-21 days) after onset of bacteremia. Staphylococcus aureus has both a high potential for metastatic infection and a high affinity for foreign material. Although artesunate (ART) is generally accepted as a safe and well-tolerated first-line treatment of severe malaria, cases of severe side effects and toxicity of this compound are also documented. This study applied larval zebrafishes to determine the acute toxicity and efficacy of ART and performed RNA-sequencing analyses to unravel the underlying signaling pathways contributing to ART’s activities. Abstract Aim The purpose of this retrospective case series study was to evaluate the usefulness and performance of a comprehensive approach to assigning periodontal prognosis by assessing the risk of tooth loss due to periodontal disease (TLPD) and estimate the survival time (ST) of periodontally compromised teeth (PCT). Material and Methods The Long‐Term Outcome (LTO) index was utilized to assess the risk of TLPD, at baseline, in 100 patients following periodontal maintenance for a mean 24.7 year (±2.4).
