The Directive 2014/95/EU – Is there a “New” Beginning for CSR in Romania?

2017

Abstract The global commandments of sustainable development, assumed and translated by the EU into a series of communications and resolutions, have found themselves a new (and more powerful) expression into the “Directive 2014/95/EU (…) as regards disclosure of non-financial and diversity information by certain large undertakings and groups”; in order to increase the transparency of their sustainability-related actions and results, these companies need to report (starting from 2018, by referring to the financial year 2017) information “relating to, as a minimum, environmental, social and employee matters, respect for human rights, anti-corruption and bribery matters”. As regards the Romania…

Sarraute's plays : poplyphony and enunciation

2014

The corpus is formed of six plays of Nathalie Sarraute; it hides a duplication of enunciation types in the characters’ dialogue. This duplication is latent due to personal pronouns and verb tenses’ neutralization. The transition from an enunciation layer to another is not marked at all or not traditionally marked. Therefore, deciphering will be more complicated to any reader, listener or spectator. These works of art are also highly polyphonic in terms of enunciation as in semantics, as several voices are intertwined and as the characters resort to authorities of point of view. Thus, readers, listeners and spectators should identify enunciation sources and “other” authorities of point of vi…

ID4 Is Required for Normal Ependymal Cell Development

2021

Ependymal cells are radial glia-derived multiciliated cells lining the lateral ventricles of the brain and spinal cord. Correct development and coordinated cilia beating is essential for proper cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow and neurogenesis modulation. Dysfunctions of ependymal cells were associated with transcription factor deregulation. Here we provide evidence that the transcriptional regulator ID4 is involved in ependymal cell development and maturation. We observed that Id4-deficient mice display altered ventricular cell cytoarchitecture, decreased ependymal cell number and enlarged ventricles. In addition, absence of ID4 during embryonic development resulted in decreased ependymal ce…

Presurgical role of MRI tractography in a case of extensive cervicothoracic spinal ependymoma

2017

Background: Intramedullary spinal ependymoma is a tumor, hardly characterizable with conventional magnetic resonance (MR) imaging only. MR diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) with three dimensional fiber tracking reconstructions allows the evaluation of the relationship between neoplasm and white matter fiber tracts, being a powerful tool in presurgical planning. We present DTI findings in a case of a young female with an extensive cervicothoracic spinal ependymoma. Case Description: The patient complained of a 2 month history of acute urinary retention, weakness and numbness on the lower limbs and the upper left limb. She underwent MR imaging that showed an extensive cervicothoracic spinal mass…

Further development of the β-lactamase MutaGen assay and evaluation by comparison with Ames fluctuation tests and theumu test

2005

A rapid, high-throughput bacterial mutagenicity test system has been developed (MutaGen test) that detects reversions of inactivating base-pair substitutions and frameshifts in a TEM-1 class A β-lactamase (ampicillinase) gene. To quickly and sensitively detect mutagens, the system utilises a series of plasmids that contain the mutated ampicillinase gene and the mucAB operon. Inactivating mutations in the ampicillinase gene include frameshifts integrated into repetitive GC-sequences and G-runs known to be mutagenic hot-spots, and base-pair substitutions inserted in or around the β-lactamase active site. Frameshift mutations completely inactivated the enzyme only when located downstream of th…

Confirmatory factor analysis of the proxy version of Kidscreen-27 and relationships between health-related quality of life dimensions and body mass i…

2020

Highlights • The full Kidscreen-27 should be used with caution for young children. • Physical activity was positively associated with physical well-being. • Body mass was negatively associated with physical well-being. • Compared to older children, the youngest may have more negative school experiences.

Two Half-Truths Make a Whole? On Bias in Self-Reports and Tracking Data

2019

The pervasive use of mobile information technologies brings new patterns of media usage, but also challenges to the measurement of media exposure. Researchers wishing to, for example, understand the nature of selective exposure on algorithmically driven platforms need to precisely attribute individuals’ exposure to specific content. Prior research has used tracking data to show that survey-based self-reports of media exposure are critically unreliable. So far, however, little effort has been invested into assessing the specific biases of tracking methods themselves. Using data from a multimethod study, we show that tracking data from mobile devices is linked to systematic distortions in sel…

Self-efficacy in volleyball: What has been evaluated? A systematic review

2019

Self-efficacy in sport has been the object of study in different modalities, including volleyball. The aim of the present study was to verify, by means of a systematic review, what has been evaluated in volleyball self-efficacy studies. The APA, PsycInfo, Bireme, Eric, Science Direct, Pubmed and Scopus databases were used to carry out the search. After the search, the articles were selected using the inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 7 articles. The results point to a lack of clarity in the instruments for assessing self-efficacy in volleyball, with regard to the technical, tactical, physical or psychological attributes they are designed to measure. Few articles have described …
