Selmer's Multiplicative Algorithm
2011
Abstract. The behavior of the multiplicative acceleration of Selmer's algorithm is widely unknown and no general result on convergence has been detected yet. Solely for its 2-dimensional, periodic expansions, there exist some results on convergence and approximation due to Fritz Schweiger. In this paper we show that periodic expansions of any dimension do in fact converge and that the coordinates of the limit points are rational functions of the largest eigenvalue of the periodicity matrix.
Fixed point theory for a class of generalized nonexpansive mappings
2011
AbstractIn this paper we introduce two new classes of generalized nonexpansive mapping and we study both the existence of fixed points and their asymptotic behavior.
Uniformly nonsquare Banach spaces have the fixed point property for nonexpansive mappings
2006
Abstract It is shown that if the modulus Γ X of nearly uniform smoothness of a reflexive Banach space satisfies Γ X ′ ( 0 ) 1 , then every bounded closed convex subset of X has the fixed point property for nonexpansive mappings. In particular, uniformly nonsquare Banach spaces have this property since they are properly included in this class of spaces. This answers a long-standing question in the theory.
Construction of chaotic dynamical system
2010
The first‐order difference equation xn+ 1 = f(xn ), n = 0,1,…, where f: R → R, is referred as an one‐dimensional discrete dynamical system. If function f is a chaotic mapping, then we talk about chaotic dynamical system. Models with chaotic mappings are not predictable in long‐term. In this paper we consider family of chaotic mappings in symbol space S 2. We use the idea of topological semi‐conjugacy and so we can construct a family of mappings in the unit segment such that it is chaotic. First published online: 09 Jun 2011
Data from: On the origin of mongrels: evolutionary history of free-breeding dogs in Eurasia
2015
Although a large part of the global domestic dog population is free-ranging and free-breeding, knowledge of genetic diversity in these free-breeding dogs (FBDs) and their ancestry relations to pure-breed dogs is limited, and the indigenous status of FBDs in Asia is still uncertain. We analyse genome-wide SNP variability of FBDs across Eurasia, and show that they display weak genetic structure and are genetically distinct from pure-breed dogs rather than constituting an admixture of breeds. Our results suggest that modern European breeds originated locally from European FBDs. East Asian and Arctic breeds show closest affinity to East Asian FBDs, and they both represent the earliest branching…
EXPA, Galleria di Architettura, Grafica e Design
2006
Radiative Recombination in strong laser field
2005
A theoretical treatment of the laser-assisted radiative recombination (LARR) is presented in which the low-frequency (LF) assumption is exploited. The merit of the proposed LF approximation is twofold. First, the LF approximation considerably simplifies the calculations of the transition rates, whereas the results obtained within this approximation are only slightly different from those obtained without resorting to it. Second, the LF approximation gives more insight into the physical picture of the process, which may be viewed as a two-step process. In the first step, the free electron propagates toward the ion, and its motion is described classically with motion changes ascribed mainly to…
Evaluation of antifungal activity of three essential oils against selected isolates of Penicillium, Purpureocillium and Acremonium
2018
Storage is a critical process of food production because incorrect conditions during this process lead to the growth of economic costs caused by material loss. It is important to maintain adequate microbiological purity of storage areas. The development of microbes present in warehouses may lead to secondary contamination of stored materials and reduce their quality. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of essential oils on the growth of Acremonium strictum , Penicillium citrinum, Penicillium expansum and Purpureocillium lilacinum . Fungal strains were isolated from the food warehouse. Studies on the influence of selected mix of phenolic substances were performed using three comm…
The Leader–Member Exchange Theory in the Chinese Context and the Ethical Challenge of Guanxi
2013
The leader–member relationship has been identified as a key determinant of successful working relationships and business outcomes in China. A high-quality leader–member relationship helps managers and employees to meet the demands they face and gives them the opportunity to develop socially, emotionally and morally. Such relationships form the basis of the overall well-being and success of the organisation. This article contributes to relationally oriented leadership theories and more specifically to the leader–member exchange (LMX) theory by examining the theory in the context of Western expatriate managers and Chinese employees in China. The first aim of the study is to analyse the simila…
