Dimensions of the Relationship between the Individual and Her Unique Worldview Construction

2021

Each individual constructs his own private worldview using elements from established worldview traditions. The biographical character of this formation makes this the individual’s “Unique Worldview Construction” (UWC). The purpose of this theoretical study is to analyse the dynamic relationship between the individual and her own UWC. It describes more how than what he believes in or denies. The variation is exceedingly complex. To make it accessible, the complexity is crystallized into seven dimensions: (1) The authority structure deals with the individual’s perception of herself as being superordinate/subordinate to her own UWC. (2) The importance dimension analyses the span from indiffere…

Psicobiologia dell'attaccamento

2008

In this work, the emotional and cerebral development of the individual is treated as a complex process, within which genetic and experiential factors interact; equal focus is given to these factors as is through the interactions of both that the human brain achieves full maturity. The recent literature on neuroscientific findings has allowed to understand further which are the mechanisms that play the most important role in the human brain. In particular, this recent work has pointed out the importance of precocious experiences of emotional syntonization between the baby and its development partners; the quality of the experiences that such partners will be able to provide will configure no…

Attitudes toward and motivation for PE: who collects the benefits of the subject?

2014

Background and purpose: Due to attitudinal and motivational aims in the national curriculum, and to lack of research on adolescents' experiences with physical education (PE) in Norway, the purposes of this study were to (1) attain data on attitudes toward PE and self-determined motivation for PE among a representative sample of adolescents (N = 2010) in middle school (grade 8–10/age 13–15) and high school (grade 11–13/age 16–19) in Norway, and (2) to explore the relationship between involvement in movement activities outside school and self-determined motivation in PE. Findings: The results showed that 43% of the adolescents were not happy with how PE is taught in Norwegian schools, and tha…

Network Capacity Estimators Predicting QoE in HTTP Adaptive Streaming

2022

The aim of adaptive HTTP streaming technology is preserving the best possible video streaming quality for viewers in heterogeneous network conditions. This can be achieved by making multiple quality versions of the video available. Switching between versions during playback should be imperceptible and fluent. The decision about quality-level switching is typically based on network capacity estimation and buffer occupancy, which predict the risk of stalling. Since quality-level switching and stalling are directly evident to the user, they are often classified as influence factors of quality of experience (QoE). In this paper, we observe different network capacity estimators and buffer behavi…

From Global Firms to Global Boards?

2013

Preprint of published version of an article from Journal of International Business Studies with the title: "On the internationalization of corporate boards: the case of Nordic firms" This study investigates the internationalization of corporate boards, using a sample of 346 non-financial listed Nordic firms during 2001-2008. Given a high level of international activity, these firms have surprisingly few foreign directors. The picture of international expertise changes considerably, however, if we also count the international experience of national directors. The percentage of foreign directors is related primarily to financial internationalization rather than foreign sales, and thus presuma…

Yo logo(s): On the icono-plastic configuration of brand symbols

2015

Among the various areas with which the vast research field of branding is concerned, brand image is recognized as a territory most pertinently analyzed with semiotic tools, since it is populated by symbols that are amenable to interpretation, such as brand logos. According to Henderson and Cote (1998), logos are graphic designs that companies uses, with or without their name, to identify themselves or their products. Semiotics, and particularly structuralist semiotics (e.g., Floch 1990,1995; Landowski 1989; Fabbri 1998; Marrone 2001, 2007), has largely abandoned the scrutiny of symbols and signs as standalone objects of analysis, in favour of the conditions of meaning that underlie brand na…

Customer brand engagement : affection to brand usage intent and moderating effect of brand experience

2015

Customer engagement is a relatively new area in the marketing literature and academic research has only shortly studied the nature of customer engagement. Despite the slight research numerous work have recognized the growing attention of customer brand engagement and consequently Marketing Science Institute has listed it as one of its key research priorities. Another important research interest which highly affects to customers satisfaction and loyalty, is brand experience. The indirect effect of brand experience to the relationships between customer brand engagement and its consequences are insufficiently examined and therefore in this study brand experience is used as a moderator factor. …
