La comunicazione istituzionale nelle organizzazioni pubbliche: opportunità e criticità connesse con il corporate brand orientation

2015

Corporate communication in public sector organizations: the opportunities and challenges of a corporate brand orientation. Over the past thirty years, the New Public Management (NPM) has been the dominant approach in the public sector. Leveraging the idea that citizens are customers of the administration, the NPM imports management principles and techniques from the private sector in order to improve the performance of public organizations. After a short description of the main problems associated with the implementation of market orientation in the public sector, this article examines corporate brand orientation as an interesting alternative to market orientation in the public context. Clustering and Polarization in the Distribution of Output: A Multivariate Perspective.

2013

Abstract Modeling the cross-country distribution of per capita income using mixture analysis provides a natural platform for the detection of clubs of countries. Unfortunately, these mixture methods, when based on a strictly univariate approach are limiting towards one’s ability to learn about the underlying process of the emergence of what constitutes a club. This paper takes a fresh look at the constitution of the emerging clubs in the distribution of cross-country output using bivariate and multivariate mixture analysis. Our results suggest that clubs are also forming in the main Solowian determinants of economic growth.

Culture and team production

2018

Abstract This paper addresses theoretically the question whether culture has an effect on economic performance in team production, and what would be an optimal team culture. The members of a team are guided both by economic incentives and by personal norms, weighed according to their prevailing level of materialism. We assume that personal norms evolve following a dynamic driven by a combination of psychological mechanisms such as consistency and conformism. The different vectors of materialism, consistency and conformism shared by the group result in a continuum of cultures characterized by different combinations of individualism and collectivism. Team culture turns out to be a fundamental…

Motivations, adoption and impact of voluntary environmental certification in the Italian Forest based industry: The case of the FSC standard

2017

Abstract Over the past few years several private voluntary schemes have been developed worldwide to address the environmental issues in the forest based industry. Using survey data, this study analyse the main factors motivating companies operating in the Italian forest based industry to implement FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) standard, as a tool to promote responsible forest management and traceability of derived products, and the impact of this standard on the economic and organisational results. The findings provide evidences that signalling mechanisms drive the entrepreneurs towards the adoption of FSC certification, followed by moral and ethical reasons. In terms of impact, emerges …

Schools opening and Covid-19 diffusion: Evidence from geolocalized microdata

2021

Are schools triggering the diffusion of the Covid-19? This question is at the core of an extensive debate about the social and long-run costs of stopping the economic activity and human capital accumulation from reducing the contagion. In principle, many confounding factors, such as climate, health system treatment, and other forms of restrictions, may impede disentangling the link between schooling and Covid-19 cases when focusing on a country or regional-level data. This work sheds light on the potential impact of school opening on the upsurge of contagion by combining a weekly panel of geocoded Covid-19 cases in Sicilian census areas with a unique set of school data. The identification o…

Bioenergy chain building: a collective action perspective

2014

Depletion of natural resources has become a key issue on the European policy agenda. Bottom-up measures have emerged in several countries with a view to promoting awareness campaigns and environmental sustainability, with the agenda set by individuals who start up collective initiatives at the local level. Such collective action provides an incentive to free-ride on the contribution of others. Social norms and the consequent behavior of individuals involved in collective action assume a key role in ensuring sustainable use of a public good, achieving significant, long-lasting success. The present study aims to ascertain which determinants most affect farmers’ willingness to contribute to co…

Diferencias territoriales en el concepto de cooperativa protegida y especialmente protegida

2013

[EN] Following several studies on regional differences in fiscal impact produced by the application of tax law (Law 20/90) in Spanish cooperatives because of the existence of very different substantive regional law, we have considered to investigate only the requirements for the application of the special tax regime. These requirements, as set forth in Articles 6 and 13, refer to the substantive law, with significant turbulence and some important differences in taxation. So it would be convenient to consider to improve greater homogenization in future legislative for equity’s sake. Even for the more special scheme, the requirements set out in Articles 8 to 12, that are in a greater degree i…

Operational risk in bank governance and control: How to save capital requirement through a risk transfer strategy. Evidences from a simulated case st…

2015

Operational risk management in banking has assumed such importance during the last decade. It has become increasingly important to measure, manage, and assess the impact of operational risk in the economics of banking. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how an effective operational risk management provides mitigating effects on capital-at-risk in banking. The paper provides evidences that an implementation of an operational risk transfer strategy reduces bank capital requirement. The paper adopts the loss distribution approach, the Monte Carlo simulation, and copula methodologies to estimate the regulatory capital and simulate an operational risk transfer strategy in banking.
