Resum: I risvolti sovranazionali riscontrati nei tre protagonisti dei romanzi del Quattrocento catalano (Jacob Xalabín, Curial e Tirant) consentono di procedere a un’analisi del Curial e Güelfa che ne sottolinea l’identità multipla e l’apertura culturale del processo di formazione del protagonista, nella sua ascesa economica e sociale. L’evoluzione del protagonista, grazie a un meccanismo psicologico, oggi riconosciuto come tale, consente il lieto fine del romanzo, diversamente da quanto avviene negli altri due, dove i protagonisti, Jacob e Tirant, rimangono sempre gli stessi. Fairness behavior in an economic crisis environment: a Romanian experimental perspective

Abstract In the context of the current prolonged economic crisis, we were wondering if the typical behaviour of Romanians in terms of their ‘fairness’ has suffered any modification. This study is trying to identify the effect of psychological pressure created by the economic crisis on fairness using the Ultimatum Game. We aim to look at the question if this hypothetical phenomenon applies mostly to people who use economic information in their day-to-day life (e.g., economic science students) or if it also affects different populations (e.g., psychology students). Another aim is to understand if any difference is influenced mainly by vocational personalities as Holland hs described.

Assessment of Energy and Economic Effectiveness of Photovoltaic Systems Operating in a Dense Urban Context

A methodology that permits testing the level of integration of the photovoltaic technology in urban areas is presented. The percentage of coverage of the electricity demand of grid-connected photovoltaic systems installed on the roofs of buildings were investigated in a district of the city of Palermo (Sicily). After classifying roofs according to their shape, orientation and pitch by means of satellite images provided by Google Earth, the ratio of the productivity of the PV systems and the consumption of electricity of the households was analysed. Effetti spaziali o settoriali? La crescita della dimensione media d'impresa in Italia

Utilizzando una recente versione della shift-share con struttura spaziale, in questo contributo scomponiamo il cambiamento della dimensione media delle imprese nelle province italiane rispetto a componenti di natura sia spaziale (di regione e di vicinato) che settoriale. L’analisi, condotta con riferimento al periodo 2004-2009, mette in risalto differenze di rilievo rispetto la classe dimensionale considerata. In particolare, si registra una netta demarcazione Nord-Sud nella distribuzione provinciale degli effetti spaziali e settoriali se consideriamo le micro imprese (1-10 addetti), mentre la geografia appare molto piu complessa per le piccole imprese (11-50 addetti).
Demographic change, new business formation and spatial concentration of population

This paper investigates the role of urbanization in the relation between population change and new business formation. The hypothesis of research is that population change significantly influences new business formation only in regions at lower urbanization. This hypothesis is based on the idea that local demand and growing population are significant determinants of new business formation only for rural regions. Using Italian data, we find evidence in support of this hypothesis. Moreover, we find that evidence of spatial dependence in the relation between population change, new business formation and urbanization.

Some insights on the link between terrorism, organised crime and ‘new wars’

Purpose - The purpose of this chapter is to investigate on the relationship between terrorism, criminal organisations, and the so-called 'new wars'. Methodology/approach - Review of the existing literature on the 'new wars' and on the terrorism-crime nexus; estimate of the financial revenues gained by terrorist groups engaged in illicit activities. Findings -Terrorist and criminal groups can develop several forms of collaboration.
