A lo largo de casi dos décadas se ha estado analizando el papel de los helmintos del ratón de campo, Apodemus sylvaticus, como bioindicadores del proceso de regeneración postincendio en el ecosistema de bosque mediterráneo del Parc Natural de la Serra Calderona, entre las provincias de Castelló y València. Formando parte de este proyecto multidisciplinar, se analiza la influencia de factores intrínsecos y extrínsecos sobre la evolución postincendio de las 10 especies componentes de la comunidad helmintiana del ratón de campo, 18 años después del incendio forestal. In this ‘late age of printing’, while we still feel part of a book culture, other media have taken the place of books in important respects. The change has affected not only the objects used for writing or reading or communicating, but also the frames of meaning hitherto associated with these practices. This paper sets out to discuss some types of meaning attaching to books in Latin literature from Cicero to Tacitus. Reconstructing the cultural meanings of books in literary representations from the Latin world could prove helpful by raising questions about our ability to orient ourselves in the present period of change.

Sustainability of local farming systems and technologies is a very important issue that faces notorious measurement difficulties. Multi-criteria methods may help researchers to solve empirical problems in the construction of composite sustainability indicators and in ranking agricultural technologies according to their sustainability. This paper shows how a multi-criteria decision-making technique, the Analytic Network Process (ANP), can be fruitfully employed to this end. Effective ecosystem-based management requires understanding ecosystem responses to multiple human threats, rather than focusing on single threats. To understand ecosystem responses to anthropogenic threats holistically, it is necessary to know how threats affect different components within ecosystems and ultimately alter ecosystem functioning. El Escudo Guayanés es uno de los territorios más antiguos del planeta; tiene millones de años sometido a procesos de lixiviación y erosión que dejan suelos oligotróficos. El objetivo de este trabajo fue hacer la caracterización de los parámetros físicos y químicos de los suelos, en diferentes comunidades boscosas de la Reserva Forestal Imataca, e identificar ciertas relaciones entre los componentes edáficos y las especies que allí se presentan.
