Analysing Incentive Strategies to Promote Participation in Crowdsourcing Systems
2016
In this paper, we define two strategies for crowdsourcing systems to encourage users to participate at a cost that is close to the optimal cost for the system. In the scenario considered, the system has temporal constraints and potential participants have dynamic behaviors related to the expected rewards (i.e., users’ expected rewards in exchange of their contributions change over time). We propose and evaluate two types of strategies that promote participation of users through monetary rewards that can change as time passes in order to adapt them to the population dynamic behaviors.
Ideal Chaotic Pattern Recognition is achievable: The Ideal-M-AdNN - its design and properties
2013
Published version of a chapter in the book: Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence XI. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-41776-4_2 This paper deals with the relatively new field of designing a Chaotic Pattern Recognition (PR) system. The benchmark of such a system is the following: First of all, one must be able to train the system with a set of “training” patterns. Subsequently, as long as there is no testing pattern, the system must be chaotic. However, if the system is, thereafter, presented with an unknown testing pattern, the behavior must ideally be as follows. If the testing pattern is not one of the trained patterns, the system …
Overview of the JET results
2015
Since the installation of an ITER-like wall, the JET programme has focused on the consolidation of ITER design choices and the preparation for ITER operation, with a specific emphasis given to the bulk tungsten melt experiment, which has been crucial for the final decision on the material choice for the day-one tungsten divertor in ITER. Integrated scenarios have been progressed with the re-establishment of long-pulse, high-confinement H-modes by optimizing the magnetic configuration and the use of ICRH to avoid tungsten impurity accumulation. Stationary discharges with detached divertor conditions and small edge localized modes have been demonstrated by nitrogen seeding. The differences in…
Large-Cavity Coronoids with Different Inner and Outer Edge Structures
2020
Coronoids, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with geometrically defined cavities, are promising model structures of porous graphene. Here, we report the on-surface synthesis of C168 and C140 coronoids, referred to as [6]- and [5]coronoid, respectively, using 5,9-dibromo-14-phenylbenzo[m]tetraphene as the precursor. These coronoids entail large cavities (>1 nm) with inner zigzag edges, distinct from their outer armchair edges. While [6]coronoid is planar, [5]coronoid is not. Low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy and noncontact atomic force microscopy unveil structural and electronic properties in accordance with those obtained from density functional theory calculation…
Anisotropy of the refractive index and absorption coefficient in the layer plane of gallium telluride single crystals
1995
Refractive index and absorption coefficient of GaTe for light polarized in the optical axis directions in the layer plane are determined from transmission measurements. The refractive index is determined in the wavelength range from 0.7 to 25 μm and the absorption coefficient in the range of energies from 1.6 to 2 eV at room temperature and at 30 K. The optical constants are found to be anisotropic in the layer plane. The refractive index dispersion is interpreted through a Phillips-Van Vechten model and the Penn gaps for each direction are found to be E pg (⊥b) = 3.37 eV and E pg (∥b) = 3.58 eV. In the long-wavelength region a polar phonon contribution is also taken into account. The absor…
Oxygen K-edge XANES investigation of NicMg1−cO solid solutions
2005
A series of Ni(c)Mg(1-c)O solid solutions are characterized by means of synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption near-edge-structure spectroscopy at oxygen K-edge (532 eV). A dramatic drop of the pre-edge peak intensity is observed in the Ni(c)Mg(1-c)O system upon dilution. It can be attributed to a decrease of 3d(8)(Ni(2+))-2p(O(2-)) mixing upon dilution with magnesium ions due to a decrease of the number of 3d vacancies as nickel ion is replaced by magnesium ion. Similarly, the decrease of the number of 4s and 4p vacancies also leads to a decrease of 4s4p(Ni(2+))-2p(O(2-)) hybridization, and hence a drop of intensities of features B and C. The features E and F are more…
New aspects of scattering and absorbing properties of atmospheric aerosol particles
1972
Abstract Knowledge of the scattering and absorbing processes of the atmospheric aerosol particles in the solar wavelength range is necessary in order to calculate the energy balance of the atmosphere. Both of these depend on the relative humidity of the air. Until now little was known of the behavior of the particles. This paper shows experimental and theoretical results of the real and imaginary part of the refractive index of the aerosol particles at different relative humidities.
On Imported and Domestic Human Papillomavirus Vaccines: Cognition, Attitude, and Willingness to Pay in Chinese Medical Students
2022
This study aimed to analyze the cognition, attitude, and willingness to pay (WTP) for imported and domestic human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines in Chinese medical students.MethodsMedical students in Eastern, Central and Western China were investigated. We used the HPV cognitive list to measure the cognition of participants and implemented contingent valuation method (CVM) to value WTP. Tobit model was used to analyze the factors associated with WTP.ResultsThe participants' average score for the 21 cognitive questions was 13.05 (±5.09). Among the participants, 60.82 and 88.01% reported that they would wish to be vaccinated and support the partners to be vaccinated. In addition, 92.54% (670) …
Intellectual Structure of the Belt and Road Initiative Research: A Scientometric Analysis and Suggestions for a Future Research Agenda
2020
China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has attracted increasing attention worldwide since its inception in 2013. Although the research is fast increasing in terms of publications, there is a lack of knowledge about the intellectual structure, research trends, and appropriate theories underpinning. Using bibliometric data from 1583 articles from 2013 to 2019 in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, we used bibliometric techniques and scientometric analyses to identify and analyze the intellectual structure, hotspots, and emerging trends in this field. We identified 18 clusters that we categorized into three groups for thematic discussion. Research gaps and future research directions were …
Efficacy of plasma rich in growth factor used for dry socket management : a systematic review
2019
Background The main aim of this systematic review was to assess the dry socket management using plasma rich in growth factor (PRGF) in terms of pain relief, alveolar fossa healing, inflammation, the incidence of dry socket. Material and Methods PubMed, Cochrane Library, Elsevier Science Direct, China Biology Medicine (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and VIP database were searched for the related articles without language limitation. Two reviewers independently searched and evaluated relevant studies. This review has been registered in the website PROSPERO (CRD42018087252). Results 28 articles were retrieved on PubMed and 98 on other electronic databases in the initial s…
