Discourses of otherness : representations of Egyptian actors in international media
2012
Tutkimuksen kohteena on kaksi välikohtausta käsittelevää uutisartikkelia, ”Egypt's Human Wrongs” American Spectatorista ja ”Copts: a question for Egypt” Le Monde Diplomatiquesta. Valtarakenteita mediadiskurssissa analysoitiin kriittisen diskurssintutkimuksen ja Edward Saidin postkolonialistisen teorian avulla. Erityishuomiota kiinnitettiin sanavalintoihin ja lainauksiin. Analyysissä selvisi että American Spectator rep…
Deepening Inside the Pictorial Layers of Etruscan Sarcophagus of Hasti Afunei: An Innovative Micro-Sampling Technique for Raman/SERS Analyses
2019
The Hasti Afunei sarcophagus is a large Etruscan urn, made up of two chalky alabaster monoliths. Dated from the last quarter of the third century BC, it was found in 1826 in the small town of Chiusi (Tuscany- Il Colle place) by a landowner, Pietro Bonci Casuccini, who made it part of his private collection. Effect of an insect growth regulator (halofenozide) on the cuticular hydrocarbons of Culex pipiens larvae
2013
The cuticular hydrocarbons of the fourth-instar larvae of Culex pipiens aged one and six days were analysed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The effect of an insect growth regulator (halofenozide = RH-0345) on the cuticular hydrocarbons was evaluated using newly moulted fourth-instar larvae of C. pipiens, at the lethal concentrations (LC50 = 12.58 and LC90 = 28.58 mu g/l). A previous study revealed that RH-0345 is toxic to larvae of C. pipiens by induction of precocious larval moulting. Several cuticular hydrocarbons (CHCs) were identified and many of the other compounds remained unknown. Our data show that the CHC classes consisted of n-alkanes (C23-C29) and …
Gli affreschi provenienti dalle terme romane di Reggio Calabria. Dalla conoscenza al restauro
2023
The frescoes at marine thermae discovered in 1886 during the excavation of the small thermal complex dating between the 1th and 3rd century AD, and located on the seafront of Reggio Calabria, have been collected already collapsed. They are currently part of the permanent exhibition of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria. This paper illustrates the results of the restoration intervention, carried out in the form of an educational activity in the context of an agreement signed between the MarRC and the University of Calabria, and the results of the diagnostic investigations carried out by the IPCF-CNR of Messina and the STEBICEF department of the University of Palermo.
