Tämän tutkimusraportin tarkoituksena on antaa systemaattinen, toimialaluokitukseen perustuva kuvaus Keski-Pohjanmaasta. Vaikka kaikista osa-alueista ei tutkimusraportissa olekaan tekstiä kovin laajasti, raportti antaa silti toivottavasti yleiskuvan siitä, mistä Keski-Pohjanmaa elää. Samalla päättäjät myös näkevät, minkä verran mistäkin asiasta on saatavissa tietoa ja mistä asioista olisi lisäselvitystarpeita.

Abstract A small moonrat belonging to the Galericini tribe occurs in all the assemblages from the Terre Rosse fissure fillings of the Gargano. It was first mentioned in the pioneering report of Freudenthal and by Butler in his study of the “gigantic” Deinogalerix, and has been quoted with different names several times in faunal lists of the Terre Rosse endemic faunas. Tutkimukseni kohteena on kuolansuomalaisen uudisasutuksen kehittyminen ja suomalaisyhteisöjen elinkaari Kuolan niemimaalla 1800-luvun puolivälistä 1940-luvun alkuun. Keskiössä on Päiväjärven eli Tuuloman kylä Murmanskin eteläpuolella Tuulomajoen varressa. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu tekemästäni entisen Päiväjärven asukkaan, Helena Lokan haastattelusta sekä Murmanskin aluearkiston arkistomateriaalilähteistä, joihin kuuluvat mm. Päiväjärven ja viereisen Jyrkinän kylän kyläneuvostojen pöytäkirjat 1930-luvulta. Exploring the Specificity of Rationally Designed Peptides Reconstituted from the Cell-Free Extract of Deinococcus radiodurans toward Mn(II) and Cu(II)

A series of five rationally designed decapeptides [DEHGTAVMLK (DP1), THMVLAKGED (DP2), GTAVMLKDEH (Term-DEH), TMVLDEHAKG (Mid-DEH), and DEHGGGGDEH (Bis-DEH)] have been studied for their interactions with Cu(II) and Mn(II) ions. The peptides, constructed including the most prevalent amino acid content found in the cell-free extract of Deinococcus radiodurans (DR), play a fundamental role in the antioxidant mechanism related to its exceptional radioresistance. Mn(II) ions, in complex with these peptides, are found to be an essential ingredient for the DR protection kit.
