Increasing evidence suggests that degradation of biodiversity in human populated areas is a threat for the ecosystem processes that are relevant for human well-being. Fungi are a megadiverse kingdom that plays a key role in ecosystem processes and affects human well-being. How urbanization influences fungi has remained poorly understood, partially due to the methodological difficulties in comprehensively surveying fungi. Uterine leiomyomata (UL) are the most common tumours of the female genital tract and the primary cause of surgical removal of the uterus. Genetic factors contribute to UL susceptibility. To add understanding to the heritable genetic risk factors, we conduct a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of UL in up to 426,558 European women from FinnGen and a previous UL meta-GWAS. In addition to the 50 known UL loci, we identify 22 loci that have not been associated with UL in prior studies. Eva Kallio tutki väitöskirjatyössään ihmisissä myyräkuumetta aiheuttavan, Hantaviruksiin kuuluvan Puumala-viruksen ja sen isäntälajin metsämyyrän välistä vuorovaikutussuhdetta. Tutkimuksessa selvisi viruksen säilyvän infektiokykyisenä pitkään isännän ulkopuolellakin ja voivan tarttua myyrästä toiseen tai myyrästä ihmiseen ilman suoraa kontaktia. Ecosystem Under Construction: An Action Research Study on Entrepreneurship in a Business Ecosystem

In recent years, we have seen increasing interest in new service concepts that take advantage of the capabilities of business ecosystems instead of single companies. In this article, we describe how a business ecosystem begins to develop around a service business idea proposed by an entrepreneur. We aim to recognize the different domains of players that are or should be involved in the ecosystem while it is under construction. The article concludes with an ecosystem model consisting of six sub-ecosystems having different change drivers and clockspeeds. All great things are based on a series of small things, and all the small things need hard work.
