Body Composition and Fitness during Strength and/or Endurance Training in Older Men

PURPOSE: This study examined adaptations in body composition and physical fitness during a 21-wk strength and/or endurance training period in 40- to 65-yr-old men. We also compared the usefulness of different methods for the analysis of body composition to detect training-induced adaptations. METHODS: Fifty-three men were randomized into the endurance training (E: N = 14), strength training (S: N = 13), combined strength and endurance training (SE: N = 15), or control (C: N = 11) groups. Reliability and variability of bioimpedance measures in normal adults: Effects of age, gender, and body mass

This study aimed to analyze the reliability and evaluate the causes of variability of bioimpedance parameters. Direct measures were analyzed because they are not affected by inappropriate prediction models. Abstract Study Objective: To verify whether the airway climate in circle systems can be improved with heated breathing tubes. Design: Randomized, controlled, prospective clinical study. Body Fat and Mobility Are Explained by Common Genetic and Environmental Influences in Older Women

In older adults, mobility limitations often coexist with overweight or obesity, suggesting that similar factors may underlie both traits. This study examined the extent to which genetic and environmental influences explain the association between adiposity and mobility in older women. Electrophysiological evidence for an inverse benzodiazepine receptor agonist in panic disorder.

Abstract Inverse agonists of the GABA A receptor clearly decrease the amplitudes of the spontaneous EEG in the P-frequency range. Therefore, we tested the hypothesis that panic patients exhibit a reduction of the EEGs spectral power in the P-frequency band.
