On the Robust Synthesis of Logical Consensus Algorithms for Distributed Intrusion Detection

2013

We introduce a novel consensus mechanism by which the agents of a network can reach an agreement on the value of a shared logical vector function depending on binary input events. Based on results on the convergence of finite--state iteration systems, we provide a technique to design logical consensus systems that minimize the number of messages to be exchanged and the number of steps before consensus is reached, and that can tolerate a bounded number of failed or malicious agents. We provide sufficient joint conditions on the input visibility and the communication topology for the method's applicability. We describe the application of our method to two distributed network intrusion detecti…

Exact and Approximate Algorithms for Two–Criteria Topological Design Problem of WAN with Budget and Delay Constraints

2004

This paper studies the problem of designing wide area networks (WAN). In the paper the two-criteria topology assignment problem with two constraints is considered. The goal is select flow routes, channel capacities and network topology in order to minimize the total average delay per packet and the leasing cost of channels subject to the budget constraint and delay constraint. The problem is NP-complete. Then, the branch and bound method is used to construct the exact algorithm. Also the approximate algorithm is presented. Some computational results are reported. Based on computational experiments, several properties of the considered problem are formulated.

The Two-Criteria Topological Design Problem in WAN with Delay Constraint: An Algorithm and Computational Results

2003

The problem is concerned with designing of wide area networks (WAN). The problem consists in selection of flow routes, channel capacities and wide area network topology in order to minimize the total average delay per packet and the leasing cost of channels subject to delay constraint. The problem is NP complete. Then, the branch and bound method is used to construct the exact algorithm. Lower bound of the criterion function is proposed. Computational results are reported. Based on computational experiments, several properties of the considered problem are formulated.

When a convergence of filters is measure-theoretic

2022

Abstract Convergence almost everywhere cannot be induced by a topology, and if measure is finite, it coincides with almost uniform convergence and is finer than convergence in measure, which is induced by a metrizable topology. Measures are assumed to be finite. It is proved that convergence in measure is the Urysohn modification of convergence almost everywhere, which is pseudotopological. Extensions of these convergences from sequences to arbitrary filters are discussed, and a concept of measure-theoretic convergence is introduced. A natural extension of convergence almost everywhere is neither measure-theoretic, nor finer than a natural extension of convergence in measure. A straightforw…

Switching Capacitors Transformerless Bidirectional DC-DC Converter

2020

This paper presents an innovative converter topology that better connects the needs of the battery pack and the electric motor towards the validation of an eco-sustainable electric mobility model. More in particular, the components of the proposed converter change their connection state during both the charging and discharging time of the battery, leading to a higher performance with respect to traditional step-down or step-up converters. The simulations carried out by means of the PLECS® environment have demonstrated the early feasibility of the proposed system.

Optimization on ports activation towards energy efficient data center networks

2018

Nowadays, Internet of thing including network support (i.e. checking social media, sending emails, video conferencing) requires smart and efficient data centers to support these services. Hence, data centers become more important and must be able to respond to ever changing service requirements and application demands. However, data centers are classified as one of the largest consumers of energy in the world. Existing topologies such as ScalNet improves the data center scalability while leading to enormous amounts of energy consumption. In this paper, we present a new energy efficient algorithm for ScalNet called Green ScalNet. The proposed topology strikes a compromise between maximizing …

CFD simulation of channels for direct and reverse electrodialysis

2012

Flows within very thin channels, typically filled with spacers, can be often encountered in many processes such as electrodialysis (ED) and reverse electrodialysis (RED). Although the ED and the RED processes have been studied for a long time, the optimization of the fluid dynamics within the channels is still an open problem. In the present work, realized within the EU-FP7 funded REAPower project, computational fluid dynamics simulations were carried out in order to predict the fluid flow field inside a single ED/RED channel. Some different configurations were tested which includes: an empty channel, a channel provided with a spacer, and a channel filled with a purposely manufactured fiber…

Transverse flux generators a solution for stand-alone wind mill

2015

The transverse flux generator (TFG) proposed in the paper as a solution for stand-alone wind electric power plants has a topology derived from a reluctance one. This variant has a permanent magnet on the rotor derived for a well-known topology in literature. Consequently, the number of rotor poles becomes double compared with stator one. The paper analyses the possibility of using a multiple modules one phase structure in comparison with poly-phase topology. The costs, torque harmonic content and the different rotor poles' topology are discussed and the conclusions are useful for the plant designer.

Study of the Audio Susceptibility in Parallel Power Processing With a High-Power Topology

2009

In this paper, the audio susceptibility characteristic of a high-efficiency nonisolated topology that processes only a part of the total power delivery is analyzed. Since the proposed topology presents a direct path from input to output, the effect of the input voltage ripple at the output voltage has been studied. The effect on the audio susceptibility of the values and disposition of the components and the effect of their parasitic elements must be taken into account. Due to this study, the analytical expression of the audio susceptibility and the design criteria to improve it have been obtained.

Automated Calculation Method to Determine the Output Power Based on the Frequency for Induction Heating IGBT Parallel Inverter

2007

The fact that some inverter topologies used in induction heating applications allow the soft switching working operation lets the progressive replacement of the MOSFET with the IGBT in high power inverters. This is due to two main reasons, the former is the IGBT reliability and the latter is the ratio defined as the price of the component per output power. In this article an automated method to determine the output power based on the frequency of an inverter build with different IGBT is described. To carry out this method is necessary to define the power cycle and to develop the calculation process which determines the energy losses in the working conditions of the resonant parallel inverte…
