Asymptotic normalization of mirror states and the effect of couplings

2011

Assuming that the ratio between asymptotic normalization coefficients of mirror states is model independent, charge symmetry can be used to indirectly extract astrophysically relevant proton capture reactions on proton-rich nuclei based on information on stable isotopes. The assumption has been tested for light nuclei within the microscopic cluster model. In this work we explore the Hamiltonian independence of the ratio between asymptotic normalization coefficients of mirror states when deformation and core excitation is introduced in the system. For this purpose we consider a phenomenological rotor + N model where the valence nucleon is subject to a deformed mean field and the core is allo…

Relativistic effects in quasifree deuteron electrodisintegration compared to a covariant model

1994

Deuteron disintegration by electrons is calculated in a covariant model for the quasifree region, where final-state interaction and two-body currents can be negiected, and is compared to a phenomenological approach in which one adds to the nonrelativistic one-body current relativistic contributions of lowest order and the kinematic wave-function boost. It is shown that ap/M-reduction of the relativistic theory contains the expressions of the phenomenological approach. The inclusion of relativistic contributions leads to a less frame-dependent description and the deviation from the covariant theory becomes small at low and medium energy and momentum transfers. Furthermore, the dependence of …

THE STRUCTURE OF THE NUCLEONS

1980

Electron-proton and electron-deuteron scattering experiments in a wide four momentum range provide information about the structure of the proton and the neutron. The structure is a direct consequence of the hadronic interaction of the nucleon and reveals properties of the strong interaction. Absolute differential cross sections can be expressed in terms of electromagnetic form factors which lead to an understanding of the coupling mechanism between the electromagnetic field and the strongly interacting hadron. The structure can also be discussed in terms of charge densities, but this analysis is strongly restricted by recoil effects. The charge rms radius extracted from recent measurements …

Electron-capture branch ofTc100and tests of nuclear wave functions for double-βdecays

2008

We present a measurement of the electron-capture branch of $^{100}\mathrm{Tc}$. Our value, $B(\mathrm{EC})=(2.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$, implies that the $^{100}\mathrm{Mo}$ neutrino absorption cross section to the ground state of $^{100}\mathrm{Tc}$ is roughly 50% larger than previously thought. Disagreement between the experimental value and QRPA calculations relevant to double-$\ensuremath{\beta}$ decay matrix elements persists. We find agreement with previous measurements of the 539.5- and 590.8-keV $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray intensities.

The new neutron-rich isotope183Lu

1983

The new neutron-rich isotope183Lu was produced in multinucleon transfer reactions by irradiatingnatW/Ta targets with 11.7 MeV/u136Xe ions, and identified by mass separation and decay spectroscopy. The measured half-life of183Lu is 58±4 s. The properties of the excited states of183Hf are discussed.

Couplings in coupled channels versus wave functions: Application to theX(3872)resonance

2010

We perform an analytical study of the scattering matrix and bound states in problems with many physical coupled channels. We establish the relationship of the couplings of the states to the different channels, obtained from the residues of the scattering matrix at the poles, with the wave functions for the different channels. The couplings basically reflect the value of the wave functions around the origin in coordinate space. In the concrete case of the $X(3872)$ resonance, understood as a bound state of ${D}^{0}{\overline{D}}^{*0}$ and ${D}^{+}{D}^{*\ensuremath{-}}$ (and $c.c.$ From now on, when we refer to ${D}^{0}{\overline{D}}^{*0}$ , ${D}^{+}{D}^{*\ensuremath{-}}$, or $D{\overline{D}}…

Harmonic decomposition of two particle angular correlations in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV

2012

Angular correlations between unidentified charged trigger (t) and associated (a) particles are measured by the ALICE experiment in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV for transverse momenta 0.25 p(T)(a). The shapes of the pair correlation distributions are studied in a variety of collision centrality classes between 0 and 50% of the total hadronic cross section for particles in the pseudorapidity interval |eta| 0.8, and are referred to as "long-range correlations". Fourier components V-n Delta equivalent to are extracted from the long-range azimuthal correlation functions. If particle pairs are correlated to one another through their individual correlation to a common symmetry plane, …

Nuclear symmetry energy and neutron skins derived from pygmy dipole resonances

2007

By exploiting Coulomb dissociation of high-energy radioactive beams of the neutron-rich nuclei $^{129\ensuremath{-}132}\mathrm{Sn}$ and $^{133,134}\mathrm{Sb}$, their dipole-strength distributions have been measured. A sizable fraction of ``pygmy'' dipole strength, energetically located below the giant dipole resonance, is observed in all of these nuclei. A comparison with available pygmy resonance data in stable nuclei ($^{208}\mathrm{Pb}$ and $N=82$ isotones) indicates a trend of strength increasing with the proton-to-neutron asymmetry. On theoretical grounds, employing the RQRPA approach, a one-to-one correlation is found between the pygmy strength and parameters describing the density d…

Neutron and protonh 11/2 alignment effects in121La

1991

In a γ-spectroscopic study, excited states in the very neutron deficient nucleus121La have been established for the first time. Rotational bands built on the 9/2+[404] and l/2−[550] Nilsson orbitals are observed up to a maximum spin of tentatively 51/2ħ. The experimental results are compared with Total Routhian Surface calculations.

Search for a non-minimal Higgs boson produced in the reaction →

1993

Abstract A data sample corresponding to 1.23 million hadronic Z decays collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP has been searched for signals of the production of a non-minimal CP-even Higgs boson h in the reaction e + e − → hZ ∗ . The h decay modes considered were: those of the minimal standard model Higgs boson, with modified branching ratios; decays into a pair of CP-odd Higgs bosons A; and decays into invisible final states. Only one event was found, a very acoplanar e+e− pair which could originate from the standard model background process e + e − → e + e − v v . Upper limits for the cross-section of the reaction e + e − → hZ ∗ have been derived as a function of mh, the mass of the Higgs…
