Search forB-meson decays to two-body final states witha0(980) mesons

We present a search for B decays to charmless final states involving charged or neutral a0 mesons. The data sample corresponds to 89 million BBbar pairs collected with the BABAR detector operating at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We find no significant signals and determine the following 90% C.L. upper limits: BR(B0 -> a0-pi+) a0-K+) a0-K0bar) a00pi+) a00K+) a00K0) a0X and a0 -> etapi, where X indicates K or pi.

Measurement of partial branching fractions of inclusive charmlessBmeson decays toK+,K0, andπ+

We present measurements of partial branching fractions of B→K+X, B→K0X, and B→π+X, where X denotes any accessible final state above the endpoint for B decays to charmed mesons, specifically for momenta of the candidate hadron greater than 2.34 (2.36) GeV for kaons (pions) in the B rest frame. These measurements are sensitive to potential new-physics particles which could enter the b→s(d) loop transitions. The analysis is performed on a data sample consisting of 383×106BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- asymmetric energy collider. Measurement of theB±→ρ±π0branching fraction and directCPasymmetry

We present improved measurements of the branching fraction and CP asymmetry for the process B±→ρ±π0. The data sample corresponding to 211fb-1 comprises 232×106 Υ(4S)→BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC. The yield and CP asymmetry are measured using an extended maximum likelihood fitting method. The branching fraction and CP asymmetry are found to be B(B±→ρ±π0)=[10.2±1.4(stat)±0.9(syst)] ×10-6 and ACP(B±→ρ±π0)=-0.01±0.13(stat) ±0.02(syst). © 2007 The American Physical Society.

Correlated leading baryon-antibaryon production ine+e−→cc¯→Λc+Λ¯c−X

We present a study of 649 +/- 35 e(+)e(-) -> c (c) over bar events produced at root s approximate to 10.6 GeV containing both Lambda(+)(c) baryon and a (Lambda) over bar (-)(c) antibaryon. The number observed is roughly 4 times that expected if the leading charmed hadron types are uncorrelated, confirming an observation by the CLEO Collaboration. We find a 2-jet topology in these events but very few additional baryons, demonstrating that the primary c and (c) over bar are predominantly contained in a correlated baryon-antibaryon system. In addition to the charmed baryons we observe on average 2.6 +/- 0.2 charged intermediate mesons, predominantly pions, carrying 65% of the remaining energy.

Femtoscopy ofppcollisions ats=0.9and 7 TeV at the LHC with two-pion Bose-Einstein correlations

We report on the high statistics two-pion correlation functions from pp collisions at root s = 0.9 TeV and root s = 7 TeV, measured by the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The correlation functions as well as the extracted source radii scale with event multiplicity and pair momentum. When analyzed in the same multiplicity and pair transverse momentum range, the correlation is similar at the two collision energies. A three-dimensional femtoscopic analysis shows an increase of the emission zone with increasing event multiplicity as well as decreasing homogeneity lengths with increasing transverse momentum. Low-lying even parity meson resonances and spin-flavor symmetry

A study is presented of the $s-$wave meson-meson interactions involving members of the $\rho-$nonet and of the $\pi-$octet. The starting point is an SU(6) spin-flavor extension of the SU(3) flavor Weinberg-Tomozawa Lagrangian. SU(6) symmetry breaking terms are then included to account for the physical meson masses and decay constants, while preserving partial conservation of the axial current in the light pseudoscalar sector. Next, the $T-$matrix amplitudes are obtained by solving the Bethe Salpeter equation in coupled-channel with the kernel built from the above interactions. Measurement of the B hadron lifetime

The average lifetime of B hadrons has been measured by the ALEPH experiment at LEP. Events containing B hadrons are selected by the identification of leptons with high transverse momentum in hadronic Z decays, and the lifetime is extracted from a fit to the impact parameter distribution of the lepton tracks. From a sample of 1.7×105 hadronic Z decays a lifetime of 1.29±0.06±0.10 ps is measured.

Vector meson-vector meson interaction in a hidden gauge unitary approach

The formalism developed recently to study vector meson-vector meson interaction, and applied to the case of rho rho, is extended to study the interaction of the nonet of vector mesons among themselves. The interaction leads to poles of the scattering matrix corresponding to bound states or resonances. We show that 11 states (either bound or resonant) get dynamically generated in nine strangeness-isospin-spin channels. Five of them can be identified with those reported in the PDG, i.e., the f(0)(1370), f(0)(1710), f(2)(1270), f(2)(')(1525), and K-2(*)(1430). Theγd→K+K−npreaction and an alternative explanation for the “Θ+(1540)pentaquark” peak

We present a calculation of the $\ensuremath{\gamma}d\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}np$ reaction with the aim of seeing whether the experimental peak observed in the ${K}^{+}n$ invariant mass around $1526$ MeV, from where evidence for the existence of the ${\ensuremath{\Theta}}^{+}$ has been claimed, can be obtained without this resonance as a consequence of the particular dynamics of the process and the cuts applied in the experimental setup. We find that a combination of facts leads indeed to a peak around $1530$ MeV for the invariant mass of ${K}^{+}n$ without the need to invoke any new resonance around this energy.
