Harmonic reduction in CHB 13-level inverters by PAM fundamental-frequency strategy

2019

In this paper cascaded H-bridges (CHB) 13-level inverters are considered and a particular pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) strategy is introduced to mitigate or eliminate many harmonic components on the output voltage, in order to obtain low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) factor. This procedure defines different dc voltage sources and sets of six switching angles, depending on an integer parameter $q$ belonging to the close interval $I=[11, 15]$ . The obtained THD doesn't depend on modulation index $m$ . The control of $m$ is made by changing the dc voltage sources that depend linearly on m, while the switching angles remain constant. An investigation about the role of the $q$ parameter on…

Probabilistic inference of approximations

2006

We consider probabilistic inductive inference of Godel numbers of total recursive functions when the set of possible errors is allowed to be infinite, but with bounded density. We have obtained hierarchies of classes of functions identifiable with different probabilities up to sets with fixed density. The obtained hierarchies turn out to be different from those which we have in the case of exact identification.

A comparison of micropore membrane inlet mass spectrometry–derived pulmonary shunt measurement with riley shunt in a porcine model

2009

The multiple inert gas elimination technique was developed to measure shunt and the ratio of alveolar ventilation to simultaneous alveolar capillary blood flow in any part of the lung (V(A)'/Q') distributions. Micropore membrane inlet mass spectrometry (MMIMS), instead of gas chromatography, has been introduced for inert gas measurement and shunt determination in a rabbit lung model. However, agreement with a frequently used and accepted method for quantifying deficits in arterial oxygenation has not been established. We compared MMIMS-derived shunt (M-S) as a fraction of total cardiac output (CO) with Riley shunt (R-S) derived from the R-S formula in a porcine lung injury model. To allow a …

Quantifier Elimination and Rectilinearisation Theorem for Generalised Quasianalytic Algebras

2013

International audience; An algebra of germs of real functions is generalised quasianalytic if to each element of the algebra we can associate, injectively, a power series with nonnegative real exponents. We prove a quantifier elimination and a rectilinearisation result for generalised quasianalytic algebras.

Expecting the unexpected: Quantifying the persistence of unexpected hypersurfaces

2021

If $X \subset \mathbb P^n$ is a reduced subscheme, we say that $X$ admits an unexpected hypersurface of degree $t$ for multiplicity $m$ if the imposition of having multiplicity $m$ at a general point $P$ fails to impose the expected number of conditions on the linear system of hypersurfaces of degree $t$ containing $X$. Conditions which either guarantee the occurrence of unexpected hypersurfaces, or which ensure that they cannot occur, are not well understand. We introduce new methods for studying unexpectedness, such as the use of generic initial ideals and partial elimination ideals to clarify when it can and when it cannot occur. We also exhibit algebraic and geometric properties of $X$ …

Accumulation and discharge behavior of Cs-137 by zebra fish (Brachydanio rerio) in different aquatic environments

1990

The uptake and release kinetics of137Cs from water by the tropical fishBrachydanio rerio has been studied under controlled laboratory condition. The accumulation of this radionuclide from food was avoided by feeding the fishes separately in an inactive environment. A steep inverse dependence of bioconcentration factor (BCF) with potassium concentration has been observed. This can formally be described by the equation BCF=5.2 · [K+]−0.44. The elimination rate constant K in fresh water conditions has been found to have a magnitude of 0.014±0.03 d−1 which corresponds to a biological half-life of 51±10 days. The uptake and release kinetics ofBrachydanio rerio has been compared with earlier stud…

Kinetic study of methoxide-promoted elimination reactions of some 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(phenyl-substituted)ethanes

2001

The methoxide-promoted elimination reaction of some 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(phenyl-substituted)ethanes (1) was investigated. The ortho-substituted derivatives were found to be less reactive than the corresponding ortho-unsubstituted derivatives, irrespective of the nature of their substituent. The reactivity data were correlated with the 13C NMR chemical shift values of C-β of either 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(phenyl-substituted)ethanes or 1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis(phenyl-substituted)ethenes and the better result was obtained for the former correlation. Activation parameters for the methoxide-promoted elimination of 1 show very similar values for ortho-substituted derivatives. The total data set se…

Bi-Level ventilation decreases pulmonary shunt and modulates neuroinflammation in a cardiopulmonary resuscitation model

2020

Background Optimal ventilation strategies during cardiopulmonary resuscitation are still heavily debated and poorly understood. So far, no convincing evidence could be presented in favour of outcome relevance and necessity of specific ventilation patterns. In recent years, alternative models to the guideline-based intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) have been proposed. In this randomized controlled trial, we evaluated a bi-level ventilation approach in a porcine model to assess possible physiological advantages for the pulmonary system as well as resulting changes in neuroinflammation compared to standard measures. Methods Sixteen male German landrace pigs were anesthetized a…

Reinvestigation of the Pd-catalysed bis(silylation) of alkynes with 1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1,2-bis(phenylthiomethyl)disilane: Unexpected formation of th…

2013

International audience; The bis(silylated) alkenes Z-(PhSCH2)Me2SiC(H)=C(Fc)SiMe2(CH2SPh) (2) and Z-(PhSCH2)Me2SiC(H)=C(bipheny)SiMe2(CH2SPh) (3) have been prepared by Pd-catalysed double silylation of ethynylferrocene and 4-ethynyl-1,1'-biphenyl in the presence of 1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1,2-bis(phenylthiomethyl)disilane (1). A reinvestigation on the interaction of 1 with [PdCl2(PhCN)2] in technical-grade CH2Cl2 as solvent revealed competition between reduction to elemental palladium (due to oxidative addition of the Si-Si bond across Pd(II) and subsequent reductive elimination) and formation of an unusual eight-membered chelate complex cis-[PdCl2{(PhSCH2SiMe2)2O}] (4), which is fluxional in s…
