Mechanical Properties of High-Density Polyethylene/Chlorinated Polyethylene Blends
2004
Results of experimental investigation of mechanical properties of high-density polyethylene (HDPE)/chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) blends in tension are reported. The specimens of pure HDPE, CPE, and nine types of HDPE/CPE blends, with different component ratios at 10 wt.% intervals, are examined. The features of the stress-strain curves obtained are discussed. Data on the influence of blend composition on the elastic modulus, yield stress, breaking stress, and ultimate elongation are obtained. The results of investigations into the creep behavior are also presented. It is found that the creep compliance obeys the power law of creep with coefficients depending on blend composition.
Structure and properties of nylon 6 modified by ?-irradiated linear low density polyethylene
1993
In this work, structure and properties of blends of nylon 6 with 10% linear low density polyethylene γ-irradiated in air at different integrated doses are presented. More particularly, Molau tests, DSC, SEM, and mechanical tests have been performed. Results show that positive morphological changes with respect to the blend with unirradiated linear low density polyethylene are well evident, especially in the blend with polyethylene irradiated at 50 KGy. This blend also shows an enhancement of the elongation at break and of the impact properties.
Amorphous and crystalline polyetheretherketone: Mechanical properties and tissue reactions during a 3-year follow-up.
2007
The study was aimed to test the mechanical strength, structural stability, and tissue reactions of optically amorphous and crystalline polyetheretherketone (PEEK) plates during a 3-year follow-up in vivo and in vitro. The injection-moulded PEEK plates were implanted to the dorsal subcutis of 12 sheep, which were sacrificed at 6-156 weeks. Thereafter, the plates were subjected to tensile tests, and levels of crystallinity were assessed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Histological evaluation was carried out using the paraffin technique. In vitro properties were examined with the tensile test and DSC at 0-156 weeks. Tissue reactions were mild and fairly similar for the amorphous an…
Theoretical and Experimental Research on Mechanical Behavior of Layered Composites Laminates
2014
The aim of the research of the experiment was to determine the mechanical characteristics of the composite layered material. There has been two types of experimental tests i.e. test for determining the tensile modulus of elasticity of the material, the maximum voltage and the elongation at break of the material. The second type of test is the flexural test was intended to determine the maximum load that the breaking is produced by bending.
Research Regarding the Influence of Raw Material and Knitted Fabric Geometry on the Tensile Strength and Breaking Elongation
2016
Abstract The main purpose of this research paper is to increase the performance of knitting process during socks manufacturing by choosing the right knitted fabric geometry and raw material. On the other side, tests results show the wear resistance regarding mechanical properties like tensile strength and breaking elongation of knitted fabrics for socks. To obtain samples knitted fabric were used several types of some classic yarns, which already use to obtain socks organic also another type of yarns less used: cotton, organic cotton, bamboo viscose, soy + cotton, Tencel. From these yarns the following knitted fabric geometry were obtained: plated single jersey, plated ribb 4:2 and plated p…
Photo-oxidative degradation of poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate)/nisin antimicrobial films
2012
The photo-oxidative behaviour of different antimicrobial blown films based on poly (ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) (EVA) was studied. In particular, two samples of EVA containing different level of vinyl acetate comonomer (namely 14% and 28%) were used as matrices while nisin at different concentrations was used as antimicrobial agent. The degradation was followed by analyzing the changes in the spectroscopic behaviour and of the elongation at break measured in tensile tests. Moreover, changes in the antimicrobial activity of the films were followed by measuring the inhibition halo in agar diffusion tests. The results indicate that nisin acts as an excellent UV stabilizer for both samples of EV…
HEXIM1 Diffusion in the Nucleus Is Regulated by Its Interactions with Both 7SK and P-TEFb
2019
International audience; How nuclear proteins diffuse and find their targets remains a key question in the transcription field. Dynamic proteins in the nucleus are classically subdiffusive and undergo anomalous diffusion, yet the underlying physical mechanisms are still debated. In this study, we explore the contribution of interactions to the generation of anomalous diffusion by the means of fluorescence spectroscopy and simulation. Using interaction-deficient mutants, our study indicates that HEXIM1 interactions with both 7SK RNA and positive transcription elongation factor b are critical for HEXIM1 subdiffusion and thus provides evidence of the effects of protein-RNA interaction on molecu…
Positron Annihilation in Defected Monocrystalline Gold Samples
2005
Angular distribution of the positron annihilation quanta was measured for monocrystalline gold samples, oriented in (110) and (111) directions. The samples were deformed by elongation for different deformation degrees. The S and W parameters as a function of deformation degree of the sample were determined. It was found that the dynamics of the dislocations and vacancy generation during the sliding of some crystallographic planes, depends on the crystallographic direction.
Positron Annihilation in Metals Defected by Action of the Tensile Force
2006
Results of experimental investigations of uniaxially elongated mono- and polycrystalline samples of several metals (Fe, Ta, Pd, Ag, and Au), performed using the positron annihilation methods, are reviewed. The dependences of the S-parameters and positron lifetimes on the relative elongation of the samples were presented. The data obtained for polycrystalline samples indicate that in the proportionality and limited proportionality regions the changes in the physical properties are governed mainly by generation of vacancies and by kinetics of formation and transformations of vacancy clusters occurring flrst of all on the grain boundaries of monocrystallites. In the region of plastic deformati…
