Evaluation of a possible association between estradiol and progesterone levels and ectopic pregnancy in low risk women undergoing IVF/ICSI

2018

Introduction: Several independent risk factors of Ectopic Pregnancy (EP) have been described to date. Nevertheless, estradiol and progesterone have not been related to ectopic pregnancy, although there is biological rationale to think about them as possible candidates. Our aim was to correlate the incidence of EP with levels of estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P4), measured on two days (hCG day, and seven days later (hCG+7)), including the differences and ratios of these concentrations, between the two time-points. Material and methods: Retrospective cohort study of 578 patients undergoing fresh embryo transfer after IVF (100 cycles), ICSI (508 cycles) and IVF/ICSI (64 cycles) without risk …

In utero exposure to mixtures of xenoestrogens and child neuropsychological development.

2014

BACKGROUND: To date, no epidemiological studies have explored the impact and persistence of in utero exposure to mixtures of xenoestrogens on the developing brain. We aimed to assess whether the cumulative effect of xenoestrogens in the placenta is associated with altered infant neuropsychological functioning at two and at four years of age, and if associations differ among boys and girls. METHODS: Cumulative prenatal exposure to xenoestrogens was quantified in the placenta using the biomarker Total Effective Xenoestrogen Burden (TEXB-alpha) in 489 participants from the INMA (Childhood and the Environment) Project. TEXB-alpha was split in tertiles to test its association with the mental and…

Differences in Inter-Rectus Distance and Abdominopelvic Function between Nulliparous, Primiparous and Multiparous Women

2021

Widening of the inter-rectus distance (IRD) is highly prevalent among postpartum women and can lead to dysfunction of abdominopelvic muscles. The aim of this study was to evaluate the differences in IRD and abdominopelvic function between nulliparous, primiparous and multiparous women. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 75 women (25 nulliparous, 25 primiparous and 25 multiparous at 6 months postpartum). The participants underwent ultrasound assessment under three conditions (at rest, abdominal draw-in maneuver (ADIM) and curl-up) at two locations (2 cm above and 2 cm below the umbilicus). Furthermore, abdominopelvic muscle function was determined by prone, supine and side bridge tests…

Adherence and concordance of vaccination coverage against influenza and pertussis in Spain.

2019

Background: Pregnant women should receive two vaccines during pregnancy due to maternal-foetal complications and risks as well as the influenza and pertussis vaccinations. The goal was to evaluate vaccination coverage against influenza and pertussis in pregnant women, following midwife professional advice during the pregnancy follow-up; Methods: Prospective cohort study of 1017 pregnancies during the vaccination campaign in 2015-2016. To estimate the degree of consistency between the coverage declared by mothers and that registered in the Nominal Vaccination Registry (NVR), we used the Cohen's kappa index (k); Results: 95.4% were registered in the NVR. Vaccination coverage recorded against …
