Distribution, ecology and conservation status of Dionysia involucrata Zaprjag., an endangered endemic of Hissar Mts (Tajikistan, Middle Asia)

<em>Dionysia involucrata</em> Zaprjag. (Primulaceae) is known as critically endangered endemic species of Hissar Mountains in Tajikistan. It is reported from few localities mainly in Varzob River valley and its tributaries. The species inhabits steep or overhanging faces of granite rocks in narrow river gorges. During the research all known populations of <em>D. involucrata</em> were examined in respect of the habitat conditions and species composition of vegetation plots. Islands are biodiversity hotspots, often containing numerous endemic species. This makes them also hotspots for conservation. Within the Mediterranean region, Sardinia is known for its comparatively high degree of endemism, including cryptic diversity. In this paper we aim to elucidate the variability of pipistrelles (Pipistrellus and Hypsugo) on Sardinia. More specifically, we ask which species occur on Sardinia and we describe the geographic affiliations of these evolutionary lineages. A revision of the remains of Deinogalerix from the Terre Rosse of Gargano, stored at the Department of Earth Sciences of Florence, improved our knowledge of the genus. The goals of this study are to clear the taxonomic status of the specimens and to tackle several issues connected with the evolutionary relationships of the different species. The sample of dental remains of Deinogalerix freudenthali provides new information, which confirms that this species belongs to the most primitive members of the genus, alongside D. masinii. In contrast to its creative role in plant evolution, hybridization may be a cause for concern in efforts to preserve rare and endangered species. Threats can be more acute when population sizes are unequal and when barriers to introgression are weak. Abstract Apinagia ( c. 50 spp.) is the largest genus of American Podostemaceae. Apinagia multibranchiata (Matth.) Royen is a haptophyte endemic to the Venezuelan Guyanas. It fits well with the Podostemoideae bauplan known from other New World genera, such as Marathrum and Mourera . Shoots arise in pairs from filamentous creeping adhesive roots. During the rainy season submerged vegetative shoots grow up to more than a metre long. They are normally unbranched and provided with distichously arranged leaves which are laterally flattened into one plane. The lanceolate leaves may show a fimbriate tip. Some ammonites, formerly collected by René Mouterde within the Sinemurian and Pliensbachian beds of the “Calcaires de Laffrey” (Isère, France), are first described and illustrated in this work. The Sinemurian (Semicostatum chronozone) assemblage, chiefly constituted by Arnioceras gr. robustum (Quenstedt, 1884), is rather usual for the NW European faunas. Conversely, the Pliensbachian (Jamesoni chronozone, Brevispina subchronozone) assemblage is very peculiar.
