Aim to assess the accuracy of magnetic resonance-enterography in predicting the extension, location and characteristics of the small bowel segments affected by Crohn's disease. Method This is a prospective study including a consecutive series of 38 patients with small bowel Crohn's disease who underwent surgery at a specialized colorectal unit of a tertiary hospital. Hiatal hernia, gastro-oesophageal reflux and oesophagitis: videofluorographic, endoscopic and histopathological correlation

The aim of the study was to evaluate the correlation between hiatal hernia and gastro-oesophageal reflux and related histological abnormalities in patients without endoscopic oesophagitis. A consecutive series of 78 patients with a history of gastro-oesophageal reflux symptoms and hiatal hernia, as defined by videofluorography combined with a water siphon test, underwent oesophagogastroduodenoscopy and multiple biopsies. Hiatal hernia was confirmed endoscopically in 99% of cases. The water siphon test was positive for reflux in 72% of cases. Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) is a successful method of treatment for obstructive hydrocephalus. In infants, however, it is reported to have a higher failure rate. On the basis of our own data and a meta-analysis of the literature, we try to define factors prognosticating potential failure in infants aged less than 1 year. Data were collected retrospectively. Between October 1994 and October 2002, 20 ETVs were performed in 16 patients younger than 1 year. Ages ranged from 8 to 311 days (median 103). To examine practice patterns of endosonographers in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) in Germany.A modified published survey (Ha et al., Gastrointest Endosc 2009) was sent to endosonographic ultrasound (EUS) customers in Germany.
