Indagini Diagnostiche nell'Ex Chiesa Madre di Santa Margherita di Belice
2010
The report presents in detail the results of a campaign of non-destructive and minimally invasive diagnostic surveys performed in the former mother church of Santa Margherita di Belice to support, in particular, the study of masonry and stucco decoration. Current practice in managing patients on anticoagulants and/or antiplatelet agents around the time of gastrointestinal endoscopy -- a nation-wide sur…
2004
Anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents are widely used in the prophylaxis and management of thromboembolic and cardiovascular diseases. Gastrointestinal bleeding is a well-known complication of these agents. Modification of anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy is often required in patients undergoing surgical procedures and specific recommendations for the perioperative period have been issued. Fewer data exist with regard to the use of these agents around the time of endoscopic procedures. A survey of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), performed several years ago, showed a wide variation between endoscopists in the management of anticoagulants and antiplatelet ag…
Is routine second-look endoscopy effective after endoscopic hemostasis in acute peptic ulcer bleeding? A meta-analysis
2012
Background Routine second-look endoscopy in modern-era peptic ulcer bleeding (PUB) remains controversial. Objective To assess the effectiveness of routine second-look endoscopy in patients with PUB exhibiting high-risk stigmata after standard medical care and endoscopic therapy. Design Comprehensive literature searches (1990-2011) were performed, seeking randomized trials comparing a routine with an as-needed second endoscopy. Main Outcome Measurements The main outcome was rebleeding. Secondary outcomes were surgery and mortality. Subanalyses assessed the influence of study quality, rebleeding definitions, endoscopic hemostasis modality, and proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapies. Analyses w…
Management of antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy in endoscopy: A review of literature
2020
Endoscopic procedures hold a basal risk of bleeding that depends on the type of procedure and patients' comorbidities. Moreover, they are often performed in patients taking antiplatelet and anticoagulants agents, increasing the potential risk of intraprocedural and delayed bleeding. Even if the interruption of antithrombotic therapies is undoubtful effective in reducing the risk of bleeding, the thromboembolic risk that follows their suspension should not be underestimated. Therefore, it is fundamental for each endoscopist to be aware of the bleeding risk for every procedure, in order to measure the risk-benefit ratio for each patient. Moreover, knowledge of the proper management of antithr…
ENDOSCOPIC FINDINGS IN CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE: REVIEW OF LITERATURE
2012
Chronic kidney Disease (CKD) is associated with several gastrointestinal diseases, documented with endoscopy. we revisited internation experience about endoscopic pictures in these patients, analyzing only the pre-transplantation period. Gastritis, esophagitis, duodenitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal ischaemia, angiodysplasia and diverticula are the most common findings, but others are reported too. Every author has different data and percentages, and further studies are necessary to assess the relation between CKD and gastrointestinal diseases. CKD is often part of a multisystem damage, that makes the management of the patinet critical. The aim of this review is to consider patie…
Risultati. La frequenza cardiaca è diminuita da 82,10±14,41 a 76,11±10,96 30’ dopo la …
gastric polypoid lesions. Our ecperience.
2010
BACKGROUND AND AIM: The Authors report the results of their experience on polypoids lesions of the stomach and on endoscopic polypectomies. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A study on 2000 OGD (oesophagogastroduodenoscopy) has been carried out on 95 patients with polypoid lesions. The authors have analysed the associations existing between histological type and symptomatology and localisation of the lesion and the status of the Helicobacter pylori and the risk of cancerization. The data were confronted with the ones already available. RESULTS: In the majority of the cases, the polypoid lesions were asymptomatic, the localization changed according to the histological type, with the antrum as the most a…

L'ADENOIDECTOMIA PER VIA ENDOSCOPICA
2012
