The Analysis on the Cyclical Behaviour of Fiscal Policy in the EU Member States
2013
Abstract This paper deals with the topic of cyclicality of fiscal policy. The main purpose of this paper is to determine the cyclical behaviour of fiscal policy in the EU member states, using historical time series for all the European countries during the period between 1995- 2011. The results pointed out that the procyclical fiscal policies are a feature of developing countries and the countercyclical and acyclical fiscal policies are a feature of developed counties.
Leveraging and Deleveraging: Pluses and Minuses
2013
Abstract As in physics, leverage is an amplifier. In business, the leverage is amplifying the losses or the gains. In good times, leverage is good, it is busting the gains, it supports economic growth. Companies and governments are using leverage at large scale. In bad times, it is busting the losses. Companies and governments will have to deleverage. This paper aims to present in brief the concepts of leveraging and deleveraging, to explain why companies, banks and governments are using the leverage, and what are the consequences of using it? The high degree of leverage is one cause of a financial crisis and therefore deleveraging is usually following a financial crisis. We will address th…
Suitability of some existing damage indexes for assessing agreements in maintenance and management of museum climatization systems
2020
Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning systems in museums are called to properly control important microclimate parameters, not only for visitors’ wellbeing, but mostly for the preservation of works of art. Accordingly, in case of interruptions to Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning systems, due to maintenance interventions or drawbacks, it is essential to guarantee the acceptable break from service to which possible damages for the works of art are related. In this regard, the aim of this work is to introduce a simple indicator to support curators in regulating the stipulation of contracts with external companies, a more effective management and maintenance of the Heating, V…
Determinants of Banks’ Profitability: Evidence from EU 27 Banking Systems
2015
Abstract In this study we assess the main determinants of banks’ profitability in EU27 over the period 2004-2011. We split the factors that influence bank profitability in two large groups: bank-specific (internal) factors and industry specific and macroeconomic (external) factors. We consider as proxy for banks profitability the return on average assets (ROAA) and the return on average equity (ROAE). The empirical findings are consistent with the expected results. Credit and liquidity risk, management efficiency, the diversification of business, the market concentration/competition and the economic growth have influence on bank profitability, both on ROAA and ROAE. An interesting and valua…
Banking Accounting between Prudence and Flexibility
2013
Abstract This paper is about the first year applying the International Financial Reporting Standards in Romanian banking accounting system. The research goal is revealing the effects on valuation of assets, liabilities or risks provisions. Expected results are linked to changing of performance indicators. Besides the need of specific resolution measures, the crises revealed the necessity to adopt prudential regulations for increasing banking accountability. Similar to the other segments of the financial market, the facts have shown that the control over the obeisance of these regulations should be entrusted to a supervising authority.
High frequency modeling technique for three phase power electronics module
2015
Nowadays, the high integrated power electronics modules (PMs), characterized by high speed, low loss and hard ware miniaturization, represent a new technology that meets the emerging demands of many applications, such us vehicle and home appliance, renewable energy sources in smart grid. The integration process and the high switching speeds increase the PM electromagnetic emissions that can create electromagnetic interference (EMI) with electric/electronic devices near the PMs. For this reason, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) have to be carefully considered, yet in the design phase, to guarantee the reliability of PM systems. In this paper a method to develop a high frequency (HF) model…
A Broad Analysis of Marketing Strategies for their Incorporation as Activities in a User Centred Process
2014
Abstract The goal of this paper is to analyze the most important Marketing Strategies that can be used for the development of interactive systems. First of all, an extensive Mapping Study has been achieved, in order to search what relationship exists between Marketing and Usability. Furthermore, a study of the state of the art has been achieved to discover whether Marketing Techniques and HCI concepts already co-exist in the existing bibliography, and to what extent. Finally, a SWOT analysis has been presented of the most important marketing strategies that exist on the Market: Product, Price, Promotion and Place.
CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL IMAGINARIO SOCIAL DE LAS TERAPIAS ALTERNATIVAS A TRAVÉS DEL DISCURSO EN REDES SOCIALES: CASO DE ESTUDIO DEL CANAL “TERAPIAS AL…
2019
An integrated environmental indicator for urban transportation systems: description and application
2015
A simplified version of the ecological footprint method is proposed for assessing the environmental performances of urban transportation systems. The method, starting from the knowledge of the composition of the running vehicular fleet, is here applied to a southern Italian province. It represents a synthetic indicator of the environmental pressure exerted by the system also matching the pollutant emissions with the carrying capacity of the site. Particularly, the forested area needed to absorb the CO2 emissions of the system is compared with the total forested area of the province. The results of the case-study indicates the yearly maximum distance that each vehicle of the fleet can cover …
Metallic interconnects for SOFC: Characterisation of corrosion resistance and conductivity evaluation at operating temperature of differently coated …
2007
Abstract One of challenges in improving the performance and cost-effectiveness of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) is the development of suitable interconnect materials. Recent researches have enabled to decrease the operating temperature of the SOFC from 1000 to 800 °C. Chromia forming alloys are then among the best candidates for interconnects. However, low electronic conductivity and volatility of chromium oxide scale need to be solved to improve interconnect performances. In the field of high temperature oxidation of metals, it is well known that the addition of reactive element into alloys or as thin film coatings, improves their oxidation resistance at high temperature. The elements of …
