Power Consumption Analysis of Operating Systems for Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper four wireless sensor network operating systems are compared in terms of power consumption. The analysis takes into account the most common operating systems-TinyOS v1.0, TinyOS v2.0, Mantis and Contiki-running on Tmote Sky and MICAz devices. With the objective of ensuring a fair evaluation, a benchmark composed of four applications has been developed, covering the most typical tasks that a Wireless Sensor Network performs. Energy reserves mobilization in the yellow eel as herbicide exposure effect.

Abstract Thiobencarb and propanil are two of the most extensive used herbicides worldwide in rice cultivation. Especially scanty is the available information regarding the effect of herbicides on fish energy resources. In the present study, the effect of sublethal exposure to these herbicides on the energy reserves of juvenile eel Anguilla anguilla was compared. Eels were exposed to 72 h to the herbicide thiobencarb (0.22 mg L −1 ) or Propanil (0.63 mg L −1 ), and allowed to recover in clean water (144 h). Abstract The aim of the research is the development of theoretical and methodical bases for determining the feasibility of plant raw materials growing for its further bioconversion into energy resources and technological materials to maximize profit from business activities. This paper aims to calculate the energetic and environmental effects of an integrated solid waste management system in Palermo, Italy. In particular, the thermal treatment of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) with energy recovery is assessed. The current characterization at the local scale is taken into account. Two different options of collection are taken into account: (1) unselected wastes; and (2) sorted collection, according to the current Italian regulation. In many countries end-users are now able to directly access the market, which has given rise to the question of how they can actively participate in that market. Co-digestion of grass silage and cow manure in a CSTR by re-circulation of alkali treated solids of the digestate.

Three laboratory, continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTRs) co-digesting grass silage and cow manure (forming 30% and 70% of substrate volatile solids (VS), respectively) were operated to evaluate the effects of re-circulating an alkali-treated and untreated solid fraction of the digestate back to the reactors. The CSTRs were operated at an organic loading rate (OLR) of 2 kg VS m(-3) day(-1) and hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 20 days with a semi-continuous mode of feeding. Renewable sources and its applications awareness in educational institutions

The topic of the presented research was to analyze the awareness on renewable energy sources among the students of three universities: the Ural Federal University (Russia), the University of Trento (Italy) and Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (Romania). The survey included 6 basic multiple-choice questions about the main points of the renewable energy topic. Data were collected and analyzed in aid of percentage ratio of right answers among students on each possible answer. The approach adopted in the three universities for the education on topics related to renewable energy is different. This difference explains the different point of view of students on renewable energy.

Economical Incentives and Systems of Certification for the Production of Electrical Energy from Renewable Energy Resources

In order to succeed in observing the international agreements undertaken in the Kyoto agreement protocol, today it is necessary to increase the electrical energy production from renewables energy resources (RERs). In this paper a complete description of the Italian incentive systems for the production of electrical energy from photovoltaic (PV) and other RERs is done. Moreover, some considerations about the effects of the incentive actions on the wide spread of RERs to produce electrical energy are reported; particular attention is paid in the economical analysis related to PY and wind systems.
