Academia-industry Collaboration for Augmented Reality Application Development
2019
Abstract Due to our previous experience in AR development, with this research project we propose to study how Augmented Reality (AR) can be adopted by an industrial partner and which are the major outcomes from which a company may benefit. For this purpose, we partnered with a forward-looking company willing to embrace the idea of implementing new technologies for industrial purposes. In this research we identified that the most significant impact which AR may have for our industrial partner is in providing remote assistance and for product exploitation and marketing purposes. For the latest we developed a customized AR application which is currently available on Apple’s App Store. By analy…
The Knowledge Flow and Commercialisation along the Continuous Chain: Education– Research– Implementation by Innovative Methods

An introduction to Open Source software licensing and use in anaesthesia department
2007
EU member states are supporting the Open Source initiative suggesting the adoption of free software in government installation instead of commercial software. The latest national laws suggest adoption of Open Source solutions in educational structures as well, such as in schools and universities. It is clear that imprisoning knowledge with license fees does not allow any improvement nor any growth.
Data and Information Quality Research in Engineering Construction Projects: A Review of Literature
2013
This article presents a review of the research on Data and Information Quality (DQ/IQ) assessment in engineering construction. Through a review of 445 articles on the topic, only nine were found in the context of engineering construction. The analysis of these nine articles revealed six challenges in performing DQ/IQ assessment in this context: the iterative nature of concurrent engineering, the uniqueness of engineering data, lack of integration between processes, lack of integration between systems, lack of timely information, and lack of relevant DQ/IQ assessment frameworks and tools. The specific contributions of this paper are the identification of DQ/IQ challenges in engineering const…
Introducing Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Textile Engineering Education and Assessing its Influence on Six Sigma Project Implementation
2012
The purpose of this paper is to explore the methodology that has adopted to implement PBL in textile engineering education at “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu (LBUS) which also highlights its potential influence on Six Sigma projects that has implemented in a textile manufacturing industry. The function of both PBL and Six Sigma approaches is to solve the problems by executing projects in a systematic way. Structurally, they are quite similar in nature. Many academic institutes around the world are currently introducing PBL to enhance the quality of higher education. On the other hand manufacturing units are trying to shorten their Six Sigma project duration, but interconnection between b…
Message from the Technical Program Chairs iSES 2020
2020
It is with distinct pleasure that we welcome you to the 6th IEEE International Symposium on Smart Electronic Systems (IEEE-iSES) to be virtually held in Chennai, India from 14–16th December 2020. Over the last few years, iSES has evolved into a leading research forum for the academic and industrial community to share their innovative ideas and research results. The primary objective of IEEE-iSES is to provide a platform for both hardware and software researchers to interact under one umbrella for further development of smart electronic systems.

Product development and project-based learning in Mechatronics, in the context of digitization and sustainability
2021
Engineering projects affect many of the UN’s sustainability goals. The development and design of new products and systems using a circular economy perspective is an important challenge towards a more sustainable society. Product development projects have common process characteristics, but methodologies, tools and methods differ for developing hardware (mechanical and electrical) or developing software. In Mechatronics such methods need to be combined, and product development and project-based learning is well suited for teaching and learning within Mechatronics, in addition to technical specialization subjects within both mechanical, electrical and software engineering. It is also suited f…
Characteristics of the Romanian CIF Imports during the Period 01.01.2016 - 31.10.2016
2017
The aim of this paper is to analyze the Romanian CIF imports during the period 01.01.2016 - 31.10.2016. My research goal is to identify the most important section of CIF imports during the analyzed period and the main structural modifications in evolution of the Romanian imports. The expected results are to know the most important import section of the Combined Nomenclature, the structural modification in evolution of these industries and the most important partner countries.
Analyzing double degrees in Spain: A proposal
2015
TThis article reviews the situation of single and double degrees in both public and private Spanish universities. To do so, this study analyzes information from the Registry of Universities, Centers, and Qualifications (RUCT) and Universia Spain. After analyzing the programs currently available to students, we present a proposal to establish a double degree in Administration and Business Management/Industrial Management Engineering. The proposal specifies the degree’s main objectives, specific nature, and fundamental aims and benefits in terms of technical, corporate, innovative, and entrepreneurial competencies.
