FARCOS, a new array for femtoscopy and correlation spectroscopy

2012

Correlations between two or more particles can be used as a tool to explore the space-time features of nuclear reactions as well as spectroscopic properties of produced unbound clusters. In order to have new options to study the mentioned correlations, FARCOS (Femtoscope ARray for COrrelations and Spectroscopy) has been conceived as a compact high resolution array, composed of square telescopes. In this work the main features of FARCOS array as well as part of the physics cases are described. © Owned by the authors, 2012.

Perspectives of XUV sources development on LASERIX facility, ILE, and ELI

2009

In this paper we present the perspectives of the development of the XUV laser sources using High-power laser facilities. We focus our paper on the present statuts of the LASERIX facility and especially its role in the development of the XUV laser sources considering the French "Institut de la Lumiere Extreme" (ILE) and the potential European project Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI).

<title>Latvian way to display holography</title>

1998

Display holography in Latvia goes back to two different sources. First, amorphous films of chalcogenide semiconductors yielding a surface microrelief after exposure and development have been investigated at the Institute of Physics at the Latvian Academy of Sciences in the late 1970's up to now. Second, techniques for making laser- and white-light holograms of various types have been developed at the holographic training laboratory of the University of Latvia in the 1980's. After development the technology for a complete process of mass-production of rainbow holograms in the mid 1990's the two holographer groups combined their efforts in the field of commercial holography. To this purpose t…

Observation ofCPViolation inB→η′K0Decays

2007

We report observations of CP violation in the decays B0 -> K+pi- and B0 -> pi+pi- in a sample of 383 million Y4S -> BBbar events. We find 4372 +/- 82 B0 -> K+pi- decays and measure the direct CP-violating charge asymmetry Akpi = -0.107 +/- 0.018 (stat) +0.007-0.004 (syst), which excludes the CP-conserving hypothesis with a significance of 5.5 standard deviations. In the same sample we find 1139 +/- 49 B0 -> pi+pi- decays and measure the CP-violating asymmetries Spipi = -0.60 +/- 0.11 (stat) +/- 0.03 (syst) and Cpipi = -0.21 +/- 0.09 (stat) +/- 0.02 (syst). CP conservation in B0 -> pi+pi- (Spipi=Cpipi=0) is excluded at a confidence level 1-C.L. = 8 * 10^{-8}, corresponding to 5.4 standard de…

Inclusive Search for Squark and Gluino Production inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2009

We report on a search for inclusive production of squarks and gluinos in p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV, in events with large missing transverse energy and multiple jets of hadrons in the final state. The study uses a CDF Run II data sample corresponding to 2 fb-1 of integrated luminosity. The data are in good agreement with the standard model predictions, giving no evidence for any squark or gluino component. In an R-parity conserving minimal supergravity scenario with A{sub 0} = 0, mu < 0 and tan beta = 5, 95% C.L. upper limits on the production cross sections in the range between 0.1 pb and 1 pb are obtained, depending on the squark and gluino masses considered. For gluino …

Measurement ofCPobservables for the decaysB±→DCP0K*±

2006

We present a study of the decay B^- → D^0_(CP)K^± and its charge conjugate, where D^0_CP) is reconstructed in CP-even, CP-odd, and non-CP flavor eigenstates, based on a sample of 232 x 10^6 Y(4S) → BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e^+e^- storage ring. We measure the partial-rate charge asymmetries A_(CP±) and the ratios R_(CP±) of the B → D^0K decay branching fractions as measured in CP^± and non-CP D^0 decays: A_(CP±) 0:35 ± 0.13(stat) ± 0.04(syst), A_(CP-)= -0.06 ± 0.13(stat) ± 0.04(syst), R_(CP+) = 0.90 ± 0.12(stat) ± 0.049syst), and R_(CP-) = 0:86 ± 0.10(stat) ± 0.05(syst).

Measurement of η′ → ηπ+π− with KLOE and KLOE-2

2012

The investigation of η ′ → ππη allows to study ππ and ηπ interactions and the possible influence of the scalar states f 0 (600) and a 0 (980) on the decay dynamics. 1.7 fb −1 of data taken with the KLOE detector at the DAΦ NE e+ e− collider have been analyzed with respect to the charged decay mode η ′ → π + π − η . 7900 ± 90 event candidates have been extracted and can be used for a Dalitz plot analysis.

ARCADE: Description of the project and setup of the Lidar/AMT system

2015

The ARCADE (Atmospheric Research for Climate and Astroparticle DEtection) project is a 3 years project funded by MIUR, that aims to study the aerosol attenuation of UV light in atmosphere using multiple instruments and techniques, as those commonly used in the cosmic rays community: elastic Lidar, Raman Lidar, side-scattering measurements using a distant laser source. All measurements will be acquired on the same air mass at the same time, in a semi-desertic site near Lamar, Colorado (U.S.). For each instrument, multiple analysis techniques will be tested: the target is a better comprehension of the systematics and limits of applicability of each method. The system is composed by a Lidar (e…
