Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää ammattikorkeakouluopiskelijoiden ja - opettajien näkemyksiä ammattikorkeakoulujen englannin kielen opetuksen tasosta ja onko siinä mahdollisesti puutteita. Tutkielmassa oli myös oleellista selvittää, miten ammattikorkeakouluopiskelijat suhtautuvat englannin kielen opetukseen ja minkälaista hyötyä he kokevat saavansa opetuksesta tulevaisuutta varten. This paper examines the use of language and how it contributes to the experiences of inclusion and exclusion of recent migrant stay-at-home parents in Finland. The study shows how the use of language facilitates the integration process of newly arrived stay-at-home parents of migrant background and affects their experiences of social inclusion and/or exclusion. The study uses the translingual approach (Canagarajah, 2013) to shed light on the multilingual reality migrants are faced with in their new surroundings. University Hospital Fire Disaster — Lessons to Learn

Reports on hospital fire disasters are only rarely published in medical journals, and then only in journals dealing with fire fighting or hospital management. Blumenhagen found only two English language articles published between 1977 and 1987, according to which 24 500 severe events were registered in the USA, equalling three events per institution per year. However, only 30–40% of these events were reported to the fire department. In the USA only 11% of all registered events caused damage amounting to more than US$ 1 000 000.
Good English Pronunciation Users and Their Pronunciation Learning Strategies

The study investigates pronunciation learning strategies (PLS) deployed by those with good English pronunciation, as well as their beliefs concerning the variables that affect pronunciation competence. In order to collect data for analysis this study surveyed 61 participants who had learned English as a foreign language. They comprised 28 higher education teachers and scholars specialising in English phonetics and phonology, who were defined as good pronunciation users (GPU), and 33 EFL teacher training students, viewed as average pronunciation learners (APL). W literaturze glottodydaktycznej Franciszek Kuszel pojawia się sporadycznie jako autor rozmówek polsko-angielskich pt. Rozmowy podręczne dla podróżujących do Londynu Polaków nieumiejących zupełnie Języka Angielskiego (1857). Pozostawił po sobie także inne materiały: „Książkę Podręczną do Uczenia się Języka Angielskiego dla Uczniów Szkoły Główney w Warszawie” [1864] napisaną na potrzeby lektoratu angielskiego w Szkole Głównej Warszawskiej i powieloną metodą litograficzną, a także „Dziennik czynności osobistych od dnia 25 września 1834” – rękopiśmienne źródło informacji biograficznych. Artykuł stawia sobie dwa podstawowe cele: nakreślić biografię autora oraz dokonać analizy jego podręcznika.

The first section of the volume, Sexual Rights, is socio-political, and includes both the problem of the recognition of rights for all individuals, especially LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, queer and intersexual) subjects, and the struggle to combat discrimination, that entails an analysis of and an opposition to homophobic discourses and actions.
