Phytochemical characterization and biological activities of green tea (Camellia sinensis) produced in the Azores, Portugal

2021

Abstract Background Green tea is not only one of the most widely consumed beverages worldwide, but is also known for its health promoting and therapeutic effects. Green tea is cultivated in areas with high humidity and acidic soils in China, Indonesia and Japan. Those places have well-marked dry and rainy seasons. In opposite, Azores have a climate with constant average annual rainfall and, unlike eastern regions, relatively constant air humidity throughout the year. While a brand implemented on the Portuguese market, the quality of green tea produced in Azores must be guaranteed. Quality control measures based on phytochemical determination of the chemical composition and biological activi…

Modalità e tipologie dell’epica normanna tra Francia, Inghilterra e Italia meridionale

2017

Low-energy epicardial pacing in children: the benefit of autocapture.

1999

Abstract Background . Permanent cardiac pacing in children results commonly in augmented energy consumption because of the high pacing rates and the ample stimulation safety margin applied in children. Cardiovascular anatomy and limited venous access sometimes preclude the otherwise preferred endocardial approach. In this multicenter patient series, we studied the feasibility, safety, and energy saving obtained by a combination of steroid-eluting epicardial leads with autocapture devices capable of ongoing adjustment of the stimulation output to the prevailing threshold. Methods . Autocapture devices (Pacesetter Microny SR+ and Regency SR+; Pacesetter, Solna, Sweden) and steroid-eluting epi…

The First Neolithic Occupation of La Cova del Randero (Pedreguer, Alicante, Spain)

2021

The excavations at “Cova del Randero” (Pedreguer, Alicante, Spain) began in 2007 within the programme of archaeological interventions of the Archaeological Museum of Alicante. The cavity, located in one of the valleys that connect the coast with the inland mountains, presents a wide sequence of occupations that begins in the Upper Palaeolithic and continues throughout the different phases of the Neolithic. The results of a multidisciplinary study, carried out in an archaeological context associated with the first Neolithic presence of the cavity, are presented here. This occupation is defined by a unique combustion structure to which a set of artefacts and biofacts are linked. This archaeol…

Drama bez heroja i nacije. Trendovi talijanske opere u doba Zajceva Nikole Subica Zrinjskog (Drama without Hero and Nation. Italian Opera and its Tre…

2018

The years after Italian unification (1861) were marked by five factors which determined development of opera. 1) The reaction of young writers and composers, close to «Scapigliatura», against the works of Giuseppe Verdi, who was considered to be the father of old Risorgimento opera with "Nabucco" and "I Lombardi alla prima crociata". 2) The search for the renewal of the drama against the formulas (opera by numbers) from the 1870s onwards under the influence of Wagner’s Musikdrama, thanks to Arrigo Boito and other composers from Milan to Bologna. 3) However, when Ivan Zajc was composing his trilogy, Italian opera was not influenced by patriotic or social features, which was otherwise the cas…
