Macular pigment change during eye ageing : analysis from population based study, Montrachet study

2018

Given the limits of the literature on the environmental nutritional impact in ocular aging witch is partially due to the lack of data in general population notably in French elderly, first, we were interested in the relationships of diet, plasma xanthophylls and macular pigment optical density as well as its spatial distribution and second of plasma fatty acids and dry eye disease signs in the 1153 Montrachet study participants.Firstly, we reported the high consumption of squash, the high plasma lutein and zeaxanthin levels and also the high plasma lutein level, the high macular pigment optical density level in nonsmokers subjects. In addition, the macular pigment values we provided in the …

Sequential variation in genomic RNA patterns of human rotaviruses isolated from infantile gastroenteritis

1986

The incidence and RNA electrophoretypes of rotaviral isolates obtained from infants and young children with acute gastroenteritis were studied from October, 1985 through April, 1986. Analysis of the viral RNA was carried out by Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis followed by silver staining. Fourteen electrophoretypes were identified. A single dominant electrophoretype was found during the first months of the rotavirus seasonal outbreak. In contrast, a large variety of RNA patterns were observed during the latter portion of the study period. Subgrouping of rotavirus isolates by a double-sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using monoclonal-detecting antibodies showed that all strains b…

Epidemiology of Multiple Sclerosis en France

2012

In Europe, France is located between high and low risk areas of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). We estimated the national prevalence of MS in France on 31st October 2004 and the incidence between 2000 and 2007 based on data from the ‘Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Maladie des Travailleurs Salariés’ which insures 87% of the population. MS like other chronic diseases is one of the 30 long-term illnesses (Affections de Longue Durée, ALD). We analysed geographic variations in the prevalence and incidence of MS in France using the Bayesian approach.Total MS prevalence in France standardised for age was 94.7 per 100,000; 130.5 in women; 54.8 in men. The notification rate for MS (2000-2007) after age-stand…
