Abstract The shell δ18O of young modern Aequipecten opercularis from the southern North Sea provides an essentially faithful record of seasonal variation in seafloor temperature. In this well-mixed setting, A. opercularis shell δ18O also serves as a proxy for seasonal variation in surface temperature. Individuals from less agitated (e.g. deeper) settings in a warm climate would not be expected to record the full seasonal range in surface temperature because of thermal stratification in summer. This research, refering to the theoretical framework of Pierre Bourdieu, shows that higher education can be considered as a “champ scientifique”, defined as a microcosm, relatively autonomous from the economic and social macrocosm, nevertheless strongly affected by its values and its evolution toward liberalism. Oxygen isotope (δ18O) sclerochronology of benthic marine molluscs provides a means of reconstructing the seasonal range in seafloor temperature, subject to use of an appropriate equation relating shell δ18O to temperature and water δ18O, a reasonably accurate estimation of water δ18O, and due consideration of growth-rate effects. Taking these factors into account, δ18O data from late Pliocene bivalves of the southern North Sea basin (Belgium and the Netherlands) indicate a seasonal seafloor range a little smaller than now in the area. The recruitment of scallops (and beyond) by two different artificial collectors (Gulf of Taranto, Mediterranean Sea)

This study provides for the first time an evaluation of the natural availability of scallop seeds along the coastal area of Taranto (Mediterranean Sea, Southern Italy). To select the best artificial collectors to harvest scallop seeds in this area, cylindrical collectors (Cyl) were compared to traditional 'Japanese-style onion bags' (Bag) across three sites. Scallops represented 26.6% of total bivalve recruitment among all collectors (782 ± 331 ind. m-2). The most recruited scallops were Flexopecten glaber and Mimachlamys varia. The white (F. glaber) and black scallops (M. varia) were abundant at all three sites, while the queen scallop, Aequipecten opercularis, was only found at one site. …

Il contributo illustra la storia e l'evoluzione del gruppo di operatori sociali dell'USSM di Palermo, specializzati nella presa in carico e trattamento dei minori abusanti. Vengono mostrate strategie d'intervento e principali procedure utilizzate nel lavoro complesso con i rei e le loro famiglie. Non viene tralasciata l'attenzione ai fattori istituzionali ed organizzativi entro cui questa peculiare esperienza viene realizzata.

This thesis focused on the role of diversity on the functioning of work teams. He responded to the ambiguity of the literature’s findings and to the call of many authors to pay more attention to the processes underlying the impact of diversity. On the one hand, this work has adopted a minimalist approach and proposed the virtual accomplice paradigm to isolate the sociocategorical part of diversity. On the other hand, he used creativity, rather than performance, as a tool of understanding, because it involves specific sociopsychological issues.
