Nykyinen käsitys vieraiden kielten opettamisesta Suomessa painottaa kielen lisäksi myös kohdekulttuurin tuntemusta. Kielen opetuksessa tulisi huomioida sen kulttuurinen konteksti. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli kartoittaa suomalaisten lukiolaisten kokemuksia ulkomaisesta ystävyyskoulutoiminnasta. Erityisen kiinnostuksen kohteena olivat lukiolaisten motiivit osallistua projektiin, heidän näkemyksensä projektin suunnittelusta ja toteutuksesta, sekä heidän kokemuksensa projektin vaikutuksista kulttuurienväliseen oppimiseen ja kielitaitoon. Monitoring a meat-free pledge with smartphones:An experimental study

Pledges are a popular strategy to encourage meat reduction, though experimental studies of their efficacy are lacking. Three-hundred and twenty-five participants from three different countries (UK, Germany, Australia) were randomly assigned to pledge 28 days meat-free or not, and their behavior was tracked via smartphones. Participants answered daily surveys regarding their eating behavior, meat cravings, and shared photos of their meals. Baseline data was collected prior to the pledge, after the 28 days, and one-month post-intervention. Returns To Education During And After The Economic Crisis: Evidence From Latvia 2006–2012

We employ EU-SILC micro data for Latvia to study how returns to education changed during the economic crisis of 2008–2009 and afterwards. We found that returns to education increased significantly during the crisis and decreased slightly during the subsequent economic recovery. The counter-cyclical effect was evident in nearly all population groups. After the crisis, education became more associated than before with a longer working week and a higher employment probability. Furthermore, we show that returns to education in Latvia are generally higher in the capital city and its suburbs than outside the capital city region, as well as for citizens of Latvia than for resident non-citizens and…
