Manipulacyjne wykorzystanie słowa park w nazwach osiedli mieszkaniowych

2020

Affective Estrangement and Ecological Destruction in TV Crime Series Fortitude

2020

Koistinen and Mäntymäki examine how graphic violence evokes affect in the context of ecological destruction in the UK-produced TV crime fiction series Fortitude (2015–17). They argue that the series mobilises generic exchange by incorporating speculative elements into a traditional crime narrative structure, thereby creating space for affective estrangement. They show how the amalgamation of violence, ecological destruction and affect serves as an entrance into socioecological critique with a strong cautionary element through the negotiation between the human and nonhuman and the ethics of violence. Theoretically, the chapter relies on Sara Ahmed’s view of affect as social processes produce…

Spheres of Influence on Students' Ethical Decision Making

2014

Our study contributes to the literature that explores whether age, gender, and various spheres of influence (religious principles, family values, educational training, workplace environment and peer interactions) affect perceptions of individual ethical behavior. We administered a business ethics survey to undergraduate students at a public undergraduate university in West Virginia. All respondents were asked to agree or disagree with twenty business ethics behavioral vignettes using a 4-point Likert type scale. In addition to these responses, we collected demographic information including gender, age, marital status, and academic major. Respondents were also asked to rank their personal sp…

Henkilön psykiatria : psykiatrian dialektinen filosofia

2017

The Finnish word ’henkilö’ is difficult to translate in English as a ‘Person’, but in international plan-language, Esperanto, we can quite exactly translate it as ‘spiritulo’. The word henkilö, spiritulo, is developed in the 19th century from the ancient Finnish word ‘henki’ by the medical doctor in Jyväskylä region Wolmar Schildt-Kilpinen. He was not satisfied with the simple translation from Latin word ‘persona’ to Finnish ‘persoona’, and so via the ancient word he conceptually combined the spiritulo to the dialectical process of negation of negation of the ethnic culture – elite culture – national culture. So the spiritulo could express the community (Gemeinschaft) and common (gemein) at…

Honest mistake or perhaps not: The role of descriptive and injunctive norms on the magnitude of dishonesty

2021

Trivial acts of dishonesty are very prevalent in everyday life and have severe economic and societal consequences. The present study aims to examine the role of descriptive and injunctive norms in minor and major dishonesty under ambiguity. We devised a novel experimental design in which rule violations can be the result of honest mistakes or various dishonest processes. In this ambiguous context, we observed a high prevalence of minor rule violations at baseline. In two experiments, exposure to increased peer cheating (i.e., negative descriptive norms) promoted major rule violations, whereas the presence of explicit or subtle rule reminders (i.e., injunctive norms) marginally reduced minor…

Paljon vanhaa, jotain uutta ja jotain lainattua: Suomalaisjournalistien ammattikuva Worlds of Journalism Study -kyselyssä

2023

Mukana on yli 120 maata eri puolilta maailmaa. WJS-projek…
