Muistisairaan ihmisen kokemukset teknologiasta osana arkea - turvaa vai tunkeilevuutta
2018
Toinen keruuvaihe toteutettiin vuosina 201…

The article focuses on the ethical practices involved in collecting and organizing large datasets, which can also impact the quality of the data and the study as a whole. We report our experiences in the DIALUKI project (Diagnosing reading and writing in a second or foreign language), in which we visited over a hundred schools to obtain a dataset of over a thousand variables from nearly a thousand pupils. Such a project is interesting from the ethical perspective, as data collection for such a large project requires special attention to ethical standards and issues throughout the project, from planning and recruiting the participants to organizing, storing, analyzing and interpreting the da…

Localizing Global Solidarity: Humanitarian Aid in Lesvos
2021
The so-called “refugee crisis” in Lesvos, Greece provides a poignant example of situated, local suffering that has called for the coordination of global resources to provide relief. Some of the first to respond were local and international Citizen Initiatives for Global Solidarity (CIGS). While a growing role for CIGS has been interpreted as a call for more global involvement, arguments for the increased localization of relief efforts suggest the need for aid agents to maintain a reflexive awareness of the potential for an influx of outside assistance to disempower those most affected. We argue that barriers to implementing the localization of humanitarian aid can be better understood by po…
2022
The question about the essence of modern technique is posed from the point of view of a desire to go beyond anthropological-instrumental conceptions of technique: in fact, it recognizes the profound connection between the metaphysics of subjectivity and the advent of the world of technology, the last of the temptations or risks must be to fall back into instrumental anthropological conceptions of the technique. In fact, we must not make the mistake of considering that at the origin of the technique is the scientific calculation of nature, the sum expression of the self-affirmation of the subject in the sense that the technique is entirely dominable by man: this is precisely the illusion gen…
The Associations between Ethical Organizational Culture, Burnout, and Engagement: A Multilevel Study
2015
Purpose – Ethical culture is a specific form of organizational culture (including values and systems that can promote ethical behavior), and as such a socially constructed phenomenon. However, no previous studies have investigated the degree to which employees’ perceptions of their organization’s ethical culture are shared within work units (departments), which was the first aim of this study. In addition, we studied the associations between ethical culture and occupational well-being (i.e., burnout and work engagement) at both the individual and workunit levels. Design/methodology/approach – The questionnaire data was gathered from 2,146 respondents with various occupations in 245 differen…
Praca jako powołanie. Istotne elementy luterańskiego etosu pracy
2017

Ecotheology in the service of religion and science
2020
The aim of the text is to assess the ecumenical potential of various contemporary approaches to ecotheology, which try to take into account the achievements of natural and social sciences. It outlines the effects of the ecumenical interest of the Churches in ecology, understood as a certain style of thinking and acting, taking into account the good of the natural environment. The results of ecological interest in the Churches are discussed by numerous authors. For example, two complementary concepts from Western and Eastern Christianity are presented: Thomas Berry's Interdisciplinary Ecotheology and John Zizioulas' Ethically Oriented Ecotheology.
