Subcellular distribution of ras in human and murine fibroblasts.
1996
Abstract Ras proteins play a significant role in signal transduction in response to growth factors and in cell transformation. To be active, ras has to be translocated to the cell membrane. Since subcellular distribution has been mainly studied in vector-transformed cells which highly express ras proteins, and it has been difficult to detect ras in cells expressing the protein at physiological levels, we studied subcellular distribution in human and murine fibroblasts. Here we show for the first time that a significant amount of ras is associated with the membrane skeleton and the cytoskeleton.
Synthesis of Enantiopure ω-(4-Fluorophenyl)-6,11-Methylene Lipoxin B4 Methyl Ester
2021
AbstractThe synthesis of Lipoxin B4 analogues (LXB4) to gain access to stabilized inflammation-resolving compounds is an active field of research. Focusing on variation and stabilization of the conjugated E,Z,E,E C6–C13 tetraene moiety of natural LXB4, a methylene bridge introduced between C6 and C11 suppresses any Z/E isomerization of the C8–C9 olefin. Furthermore, rapid ω-oxidation (C20) should be avoided by replacing the C18–C20 segment by an aromatic moiety. Optically active C1–C12 building blocks were accessed from methyl cycloheptatriene-1-carboxylate (C6–C11, C21) and glutaryl chloride (C1–C5) as described earlier. The ω-segment was generated via a five-step sequence starting from 4-…
Photocyclization of a bichromophoric phenol/olefi system substituted at the methylene spacer - Zwitterions versus H-bridged intermediates in the exci…
2002
Photolysis of (E)- and (Z)-2-(1-ethyl-3-phenylpropenyl)phenol (1 and 2) under a variety of conditions produces a mixture of dihydrobenzopyrans 3 and 4, dihydrobenzofuran 5, cyclopropanes 6 and 7, and rearranged olefin 8. Acidic treatment of 1 and 2 gives a mixture of the six-membered ring products 3 and 4. Remarkable differences, associated with the nature of the precursor and the reaction conditions, are observed in the regiochemistry of cyclization and in the stereochemistry of the dihydrobenzopyrans (3/4 ratio). This points in favour of an H-bridged intermediate, rather than a fully zwitterionic species, as the direct precursor of the photocyclized products.
Synthesis and olefin homo- and copolymerization behavior of new vanadium complexes bearing [OSSO]-type ligands
2017
Novel vanadium complexes bearing [OSSO]-type ligands having two phenolato units linked through the –CH2S(CH2)4SCH2– (1V) or –CH2S(CH2)2SCH2– (2V) bridge are synthesized with good yields by reacting a deprotonated ligand with VCl4. They are then used in ethylene (co)polymerization after activation with EtAlCl2 and Et2AlCl. In the presence of EtAlCl2, both complexes promote ethylene polymerization with very high activities, over 4 × 107 g/(mol h), leading to PEs with high molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution. The prepared complexes exhibit lower activity for ethylene/1-octene copolymerization. It is also revealed that the catalyst based on the –CH2S(CH2)4SCH2– bridged com…
Microstructure of ethylene-1-hexene and ethylene-1-octene copolymers obtained over Ziegler–Natta catalysts supported on MgCl 2 (THF) 2
2001
Abstract The ethylene copolymerizations with 1-hexene or 1-octene in the presence of hydrogen using three catalysts, MgCl 2 (THF) 2 /VOCl 3 /Et 2 AlCl, MgCl 2 (THF) 2 /VCl 4 /Et 2 AlCl, MgCl 2 (THF) 2 /TiCl 4 /Et 2 AlCl, were investigated. It was found that the addition of hydrogen into the copolymerization feed reduces the molecular weight of the copolymers produced and decreases the activity of all the studied catalysts. The microstructure of the copolymers obtained was determined on the basis of 13 C NMR investigations and the reactivity ratios of the comonomers were calculated. The lack of tendency of the olefin comonomers to the creation of the polymer block was confirmed. It was found…
DFT Study of Ethylene and Propylene Copolymerization over a Heterogeneous Catalyst with a Coordinating Lewis Base
2005
The copolymerization of ethylene and propylene over a heterogeneous Ti(III) catalyst containing tetrahydrofuran (THF) as a Lewis base and MgCl2 as a support has been studied by means of DFT. Two feasible models of active sites have been examined thoroughly, and one of them turned out to be favorable in terms of both catalytic activity and the microstructure of the resulting polymer. The external barriers of olefin insertion for this model range from 3.1 to 16.0 kcal/mol and are influenced by a variety of factors, such as the structure of the growing polymer chain and the nature of the incoming olefin as well as the orientation of the ligands around the titanium atom. Stochastic simulations …
Vanadium catalysts for ethylene-norbornene copolymerization
2020
Cyclic olefin copolymers (COCs) are a promising group of materials with specific, projectable properties. In this group, copolymers of ethylene and norbornene are of particular interest. A variety of transition metal complexes are used for their synthesis, mostly elements from group 4. This review presents the application of vanadium catalysts with various types of ligands in the synthesis of ethylene-norbornene copolymers. The influence of ligands and reaction conditions on the activity of catalyst and selected properties of copolymers are described in this paper.
Evolution of the optimal catalytic systems for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane: The role of adsorption in the catalytic performance
2022
Three samples that correspond to the evolution of optimal catalytic systems for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane have been synthesized and compared in terms of catalytic behavior and adsorption properties: (i) vanadium oxide supported on alumina, (ii) Sn-promoted NiO, and (iii) multicomponent MoVTeNbO with the M1 structure. The main difference in catalytic performance lies in the extent of the overoxidation of the ethylene formed, following the order VOx/Al2O3 > NiSnOx > MoVTeNb-M1. Accordingly, the selectivity to ethylene at medium and high ethane conversion follows the order MoVTeNb-M1 > NiSnOx > VOx/Al2O3. These results are confirmed by the relative reaction rates observed for the…
Ethylene/1-olefin copolymerization behaviour of vanadium and titanium complexes bearing salen-type ligand
2013
Ethylene/1-olefin copolymerization using vanadium and titanium complexes bearing tetradentate [O,N,N,O]-type ligand and EtAlCl2 or MAO as a cocatalyst is carried out. In the presence of the vanadium complex activated with EtAlCl2 is observed (a) negative “comonomer effect”, (b) high comonomer incorporation and narrow chemical composition distribution (CCD), (c) unexpected copolymer microstructure, and (d) increased molecular weight of copolymers when compared with the homopolymer. In contrast, titanium catalyst gives copolymers with lower 1-olefin content and broad CCD. Supported complexes show higher activity, lower 1-olefins incorporation and give copolymers with ultra high molecular weig…
Carboplatin plus paclitaxel versus carboplatin plus pegylated liposomal doxorubicin as first-line treatment for patients with ovarian cancer: the MIT…
2011
Purpose Carboplatin/paclitaxel is the standard first-line chemotherapy for patients with advanced ovarian cancer. Multicentre Italian Trials in Ovarian Cancer-2 (MITO-2), an academic multicenter phase III trial, tested whether carboplatin/pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) was more effective than standard chemotherapy. Patients and Methods Chemotherapy-naive patients with stage IC to IV ovarian cancer (age ≤ 75 years; Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status ≤ 2) were randomly assigned to carboplatin area under the curve (AUC) 5 plus paclitaxel 175 mg/m2 or to carboplatin AUC 5 plus PLD 30 mg/m2, every 3 weeks for six cycles. Primary end point was progression-free survival (…
