DFT Study on the Complex Reaction Networks in the Conversion of Ethylene to Ethylidyne on Flat and Stepped Pd

2009

Adsorption and conversion of ethylene to ethylidyne on flat (111) and stepped Pd surfaces have been studied with the aim to unravel the complex chemistry of small organic molecules on Pd. These pro...

Diagnosis of Damage to Norway Spruce (Picea Abies) through Ethylene and Other Biochemical Criteria

1998

Forest damage normally is characterized by loss and yellowing of leaves or needles. The results of this ocular damage diagnosis can be confirmed and stated more precisely through biochemical criteria, e.g. the plant hormone ethylene, the activity of the enzyme phosphoenolpyruvate-carboxylase (PEP-C), the content of chlorophyll and other biochemical parameters. Therefore we investigated the interrelation between visible damage and 13 biochemical parameters in six trees each from eleven permanent observed sites in the south-west of Germany. The results indicate that damaged trees can be separated clearly from undamaged trees by these biochemical criteria. Furthermore, statistical evaluation o…

Micellar fluorescence enhancement of carbamate pesticides

1990

Abstract Different studies have been carried out on the interaction of carbamate pesticides, such as carbofuran and carbaryl, with nonionic and anionic surfactants. Micellar fluorescence enhancements (MEF) of 15–20 for carbofuran in the presence of fatty alcohol ethylene oxide condensates, and of 3.7–8.6 in the presence of anionic surfactants at neutral pH have been obtained. Carbaryl does not interact with surfactants, but when it is hydrolysed to 1-naphthol, MEF values of the order of 2 are obtained in the presence of nonylphenol ethylene oxide condensates. The experimental parameters have been optimized in order to obtain maximum fluorescence. The mechanisms involved in the fluorescence …

Research of the physical-chemical properties of adhesive radiation-modified thermosetting materials based on polyolefins and their composites

1999

The present paper surveys the investigation results of the adhesive behavior with steel of different polyethylenes (LDPE, HDPE) irradiated with γ-radiation in vacuum, oxygen, and air, using rheological, optical, thermomechanical and other methods. To study the adhesive contact, the technological parameters applicable to thermosetting polymer material were taken into consideration. The results show the suitable methods in order to obtain thermosetting polymer materials with improved adhesive and thermomechanical properties.

A version of DSC technique is proposed which ensures good accuracy in comparing the melting behaviour of two apparently similar samples. The information is obtained in the form of comparative thermograms recorded during simulataneous melting of both samples. The method is applied to observe the influence of cooling conditions and annealing on melting behaviour of low-density polyethylene.

Influence of long chain branching on the elongational behaviour of different polyethylenes and their blends

1986

Elongational data on a series of polyethylenes with different structure and on their blends are presented in order to correlate the extensional behaviour with the long chain branching degree.
