Tuning the pH-Switch of Supramolecular Polymer Carriers for siRNA to Physiologically Relevant pH

2017

The preparation of histidine enriched dendritic peptide amphiphiles and their self-assembly into multicomponent pH-switchable supramolecular polymers is reported. Alternating histidine and phenylalanine peptide synthons allow the assembly/disassembly to be adjusted in a physiologically relevant range of pH 5.3-6.0. Coassembly of monomers equipped with dendritic tetraethylene glycol chains with monomers bearing peripheral primary amine groups leads to nanorods with a tunable cationic surface charge density. These surface functional supramolecular polycations are able to reversibly bind short interfering RNA (siRNA). The nanorod-like supramolecular polymers, their complexation with siRNA, and…

Ruthenium Metallodendrimers Based on Nitrile‐Functionalized Poly(alkylidene imine)s

2005

The preparation of the first- and second-generation of nitrile-functionalized poly(alkylidene imine) dendrimers with the organometallic ruthenium complex [Ru(η5-C5H5)(PPh3)2Cl] peripherally attached is described. The reaction of N,N′-bis(cyanomethyl)piperazine (1), N,N′-bis[N′′,N′′′-bis(cyanoethyl)aminoethyl]piperazine (2), or N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis(cyanoethyl)ethylenediamine (3) with [Ru(η5-C5H5)(PPh3)2Cl] (4) in the presence of TlPF6 gives the new air-stable ruthenium metallodendrimers 5, 6, and 7, respectively. These stable metallodendrimers are easily prepared and represent a novel quantitative method to solidify and chromatographically purify the otherwise semi-liquid nitrile-functionalize…

Interferometric microscopy study of the surface roughness of Portland cement under the action of different irrigants

2013

Objectives: Some investigations suggested common Portland cement (PC) as a substitute material for MTA for endodontic use; both MTA and PC have a similar composition. The aim of this study was to determine the surface roughness of common PC before and after the exposition to different endodontic irrigating solutions: 10% and 20% citric acid, 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic (EDTA) and 5% sodium hypochlorite. Study Design: Fifty PC samples in the form of cubes were prepared. PC was mixed with distilled water (powder/liquid ratio 3:1 by weight). The samples were immersed for one minute in 10% and 20% citric acid, 17% EDTA and 5% sodium hypochlorite. After gold coating, PC samples were examined …

A methylenediphosphonate bridged copper(II) tetramer: Synthesis, structural, thermal, and magnetic characterization of [Cu4(H2O)2(phen)4(μ-P2O6CH2)2]…

2019

Abstract A novel tetracopper(II) complex namely, [Cu4(H2O)2(phen)4(μ-P2O6CH2)2]·21H2O (1) was synthesized by using copper(II) chloride, 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), and methylene diphosphonic acid (MDP). The structure of 1 was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy. Compound 1 crystallizes in the triclinic system, P 1 ¯ space group and its crystal structure consists of neutral centrosymmetric tetranuclear copper(II)-methylene diphosphonate units where each peripheral {Cu(phen)(P2O6CH2)}2− fragment adopts the bidentate(Oeq-P-Oeq)/monodentate (Oax) bridging mode towards each of the two inner {Cu(phen)}2+ entities resulting in a “clamshell”-like orientation. The two …

Bis(terpyridyl)-ruthenium(II) units attached to polyazacycloalkanes as sensing fluorescent receptors for transition metal ions

2000

A synthetic strategy has been devised for the preparation of new compounds in which terpyridyl fragments are linked to 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (cyclam). Reaction of excess cyclam with 4′-[(4-bromomethyl)phenyl]-2,2′:2″,6′-terpyridine afforded the ligand 1-[4′-p-tolyl-(2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridyl)]-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (L1) in which the tetraaza macrocycle was covalently attached to one benzyl-terpyridyl fragment. Under similar conditions reaction of cyclam with excess 4′-[(4-bromomethyl)phenyl]-2,2′:2″,6′-terpyridine gave the tetra substituted cyclam derivative 1,4,8,11-[4′-p-tolyl-(2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridyl)]-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (L2). The multidentate ligand L2 w…

New cyanide-bridged Mn(III)-M(III) heterometallic dinuclear complexes constructed from [M(III)(AA)(CN)4]- building blocks (M = Cr and Fe): synthesis,…

2011

Three Mn(III)-M(III) (M = Cr and Fe) dinuclear complexes have been obtained by assembling [Mn(III)(SB)(H(2)O)](+) and [M(III)(AA)(CN)(4)](-) ions, where SB is the dianion of the Schiff-base resulting from the condensation of 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde with ethylenediamine (3-MeOsalen(2-)) or 1,2-cyclohexanediamine (3-MeOsalcyen(2-)): [Mn(3-MeOsalen)(H(2)O)(µ-NC)Cr(bipy)(CN)(3)]·2H(2)O (1), [Mn(3-MeOsalen)(H(2)O)(µ-NC)Cr(ampy)(CN)(3)][Mn(3-MeOsalen)(H(2)O)(2)]ClO(4)·2H(2)O (2) and [Mn(3-MeOsalcyen)(H(2)O)(µ-NC)Fe(bpym)(CN)(3)]·3H(2)O (3) (bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine, ampy = 2-aminomethylpyridine and bpym = 2,2'-bipyrimidine). The [M(AA)(CN)(4)](-) unit in 1-3 acts as a monodentate ligand towards th…

Binuclear Ni(II) complexes based on bridging oxalate and tetracyanometallates.

2002

The trimeric complexes, [{Ni(dien)}2(m-ox){(m-Pd(CN)4)}] (2) and [{Ni(dien)}2(m-ox){(m-Pt(CN)4)}] (3) were synthesised by the reaction of [{Ni(dien)(H2O)}2(m-ox)](PF6)2/2H2O (dien /dietylenetriamine and ox /oxalate) with K2Pd(CN)4 and K2Pt(CN)4, respectively. In this reaction, water substitution and molecular reconstruction reactions take place to afford trimer complexes. These compounds are isostructural with the molecular compound [{Ni(dien)}2(m-ox){(m-Ni(CN)4)}] (1). In each complex, the two octahedrally coordinated Ni atoms are oxalate bridged and the sphere of coordination of each Ni is completed by three nitrogen atoms from a diethylenetriamine ligand in fac arrangement and one nit…

Iron(ii) complexes of tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPMA) and neutral bidentate ligands showing thermal- and photo-induced spin crossover

2018

Three new mononuclear Fe(ii) complexes have been prepared and characterized by the combination of tetradentate tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPMA) with three neutral bidentate ligands, such as ethylenediamine (en), 1,2-diaminopropane (pn) and 2-picolylamine (2-pic), in compounds [FeII(TPMA)(en)](ClO4)2 (1), [FeII(TPMA)(2-pic)](ClO4)2 (2) and [FeII(TPMA)(pn)](ClO4)2 (3). Structural and magnetic characterization demonstrates that the three compounds present a complete SCO behavior. The absence of strong intermolecular interactions and solvent molecules leads to reversible and gradual spin transitions. The different ligands allow tuning T1/2 from 130 K (2) to 325 K (3). The compound with the low…
